FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Milwaukee Brewers
This is probably my favorite spot of the group. David Peterson is facing the Brewers for the second straight time, and Milwaukee just saw him for six earned runs over 3.2 innings last week. Now he comes in with a 5.39 ERA and 1.56 WHIP on the season. That’s a lot of traffic against an offense that can string together hits and walks and just keep the pressure on. I really like Milwaukee here and wouldn’t mind being overweight.

Atlanta Braves
I always like taking shots against Freddy Peralta, especially when he hasn’t been able to put things together for most of the season. He’s sitting at a 4.96 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, and there are a few Braves with some nice BvP numbers against him as well. Atlanta can be frustrating, but we know the ceiling is there, and this is exactly the type of matchup where I want to bet on that upside. I’ll have some Braves exposure.
Kansas City Royals
Corbin Burnes is making his first start since June 1, and that’s enough to get me interested in Kansas City as a tournament option. A pitcher coming off a lengthy IL stint can obviously come back and look perfectly fine, but there’s also the possibility that the command, velocity or stamina isn’t quite there yet. The Royals aren’t an offense I’m going to force into a bunch of lineups, but this is the kind of spot where a sprinkle makes sense.

Chicago Cubs
I mentioned the Cubs when they faced Jacob Misiorowski last week and they actually got to him, so why not take another shot? 😂 This is obviously a very different matchup from attacking some mediocre pitcher — Mis has the stuff to completely shut down an offense — but Chicago might be the best offense in baseball and they’ve already shown they can solve him. If they do it again, the leverage is going to be fantastic. I’m not going heavy, but this is exactly the kind of low-owned, high-upside sprinkle I want in tournaments.
Toronto Blue Jays
Jack Perkins has been better lately, allowing just five earned runs over his last four starts, so this isn’t quite as obvious as the season-long numbers suggest. But he’s still carrying a 6.50 ERA, and this is a hitters’ park against a Blue Jays lineup that has plenty of upside. I don’t need to go crazy here, but the ceiling is definitely there if Perkins’ recent improvement finally runs into some trouble. Nice low-owned tournament option.
