We focus on stacks that are solid for small-field and SE as well as overlooked spots for large-field GPPs, and we discuss players that have good past history vs. the pitchers they’re facing. FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Milwaukee Brewers
David Peterson just isn’t someone I’m afraid to attack, especially with a 5.11 ERA and 1.52 WHIP on the season. That’s a ton of traffic, and Milwaukee has enough bats to take advantage if he’s not locating. The Brewers aren’t always the most exciting offense to stack, but this is exactly the kind of matchup where I don’t mind going over the field. I like having a pretty healthy amount of exposure here.

Los Angeles Dodgers
Brycen Mautz is likely just an opener, but that doesn’t really scare me away from the Dodgers. He’s allowed six earned runs in six innings this season, and then whatever happens after Mautz, Los Angeles gets opportunities against the rest of the pitching staff. And, well…it’s the Dodgers. I’m always going to have some interest in this offense when the matchup gives them a chance to see multiple arms. Not necessarily my favorite spot of the slate, but the ceiling is always there.
San Francisco Giants
Jared Jones has a 4.83 ERA, and the Giants are one of those offenses that always seem to go overlooked. That’s enough for me to take a few shots here. I’m not expecting San Francisco to suddenly become the highest-scoring offense on the slate, but if Jones has one of his shakier outings, this lineup has enough bats to take advantage. The low ownership is the big attraction for me. Definitely a sprinkle in tournaments.

Chicago Cubs
This is probably my favorite pure leverage play of the group. Jacob Misiorowski is obviously capable of making an offense look completely overmatched, which is exactly why I don’t think anyone is going to want to roster the Cubs. But if Mis struggles with his command or the Cubs are able to get into him early, Chicago has the offensive ceiling to make this really interesting. It’s super risky, but that’s the point. I wouldn’t go heavy, but a sprinkle in tournaments is absolutely worth it.
Houston Astros
Davis Martin is making his first start in close to a month after coming off the IL, so there are plenty of questions about what we’re actually going to get from him. Houston is fighting for the AL West, and this is an offense with plenty of upside that I don’t mind getting behind in a spot like this. Martin could be sharp, but the layoff and potential rust give me enough reason to take some shots. I like Houston as a tournament stack, especially if the field is hesitant to trust an offense that’s been a little up and down.
