FIVE DFS MLB Stacks
Atlanta Braves
Any time I see a Rockies pitcher, I’m at least going to look at the opposing offense. Mason Adams isn’t someone who changes that rule, and the Braves have enough talent to put together one of those ceiling performances we’re always chasing with them. Atlanta has been frustratingly inconsistent, but the upside hasn’t gone anywhere. This feels like a spot where I want to take some shots and hope we get the good version of the Braves offense.

Los Angeles Dodgers
Framber Valdez hasn’t been his usual steady, high-floor self this season, and now he’s facing the Dodgers in his first year with Detroit. That’s enough for me to have interest. Normally I’d give Valdez plenty of respect, but when a pitcher who’s been less consistent than we’re accustomed to is facing this much offensive firepower, I don’t want to miss the upside. The Dodgers will probably attract ownership, but this is another spot where I’m perfectly fine with that.
Milwaukee Brewers
Kumar Rocker hasn’t done anything this season to make me want to stay away from an offense, carrying a 4.41 ERA. The Brewers don’t exactly scare pitchers with their home-run power, but that’s not really how they beat you anyway. It’s more like death by a thousand cuts, and Rocker is volatile enough that I can see Milwaukee stringing together enough hits and walks to put up a big number. I like this as a tournament stack, especially if people overlook them because of the lack of traditional power.

Seattle Mariners
I’m not necessarily expecting a massive game from Seattle’s offense given how many of their bats have been struggling, but this is still a matchup I don’t want to completely ignore. Max Scherzer has a 7.02 ERA, and that’s just too ugly to pass up when you’re looking for tournament leverage. The Mariners don’t need every hitter to suddenly wake up — if a couple of the right bats get going, this could turn into a really nice low-owned stack. Definitely more of a GPP play for me, but I want some shares.
Chicago White Sox
This one could get overlooked a little bit, but I don’t mind taking some shots. Zebby Matthews is carrying an ERA close to 5, and that’s attackable regardless of who’s standing in the batter’s box. Obviously, Chicago isn’t an offense I’m going to blindly stack every night, but this is exactly the kind of matchup where the price and ownership could make the risk worthwhile. If Matthews isn’t sharp, the White Sox have an opportunity to surprise people.
