My Take on a Consistent MLB DFS Process – Looking at Pitchers
I always start an MLB slate by looking at pitching, not only do you get a grasp on who the pitchers are that you want to target, but gives you a holistic look at the slate as well. Breaking down pitching also gives you an idea of what offenses are in good spots against bad/vulnerable pitchers. I start my research by going straight to the MLB Carnage Report this is where we can analyze all the pitchers on the slate in a compact, yet detailed manner. Below are the three pitchers that jumped out to me at first glance, good or bad.
- Nathan Eovaldi
- Drew Rasmussen
- Domingo German

Main MLB Slate Player Projections and Stacks:
Tampa Bay Rays (-115) @ New York Yankees (-103)
Rundown:
We’ll kick the day off with Drew Rasmussen and the Rays as they head into Yankee Stadium. It’s definitely a park downgrade for Rassmussen and this Yankees lineup is starting to get healthier with Aaron Judge back in there. Rasmussen is coming off of a nice bounce-back game last time out against this same Yankees team, however after two down starts against the White Sox and Astros. On a short slate, I have no issue getting to Rasmussen here, he’s sporting a sneaky 26.0% strikeout rate on the season. Domingo German will get the ball for the Yankees and has shown some nice consistency for DFS at the very least this season. He struggled a bit in this spot last time out, but again, it’s a short slate and he has a 28.2% strikeout rate on the season.
TBR 5-star plays: Brandon Lowe
4-star plays: Randy Arozarena, Wander Franco, Yandy Diaz, Luke Raley
GPP Note: Ballpark boost for the Rays, they’re going to be a nice stacking option on a short slate.
NYY 5-star plays: Aaron Judge, Anthony Volpe
4-star plays: Anthony Rizzo, DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torress
GPP Note: I probably prefer the Yankees side of this one, but it’s close, both teams are firmly in play.
Texas Rangers (-240) @ Oakland Athletics (+194)

Rundown:
Starting with the Rangers, they’ll send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound, and is going to look like a top pitching option on the slate. The win equity is huge at -240 and this A’s lineup is one of the worst in the league accompanied by a massive ballpark. Eovaldi has been on a bit of a heater as well with at least 27.8 DraftKings points in back-to-back games. The Atheltics are striking out at a 24.3% as a whole while Eovaldi carries a 24.9% strikeout rate into this one, there really isn’t a whole lot not to like with him here. Oakland is going to start Zach Neal who I won’t have any sort of interest in… he hasn’t seen the big leagues since 2018 where he threw just one inning for the Dodgers and had at least a 5.50 ERA in the minors over the past two seasons.
TEX 5-star plays: Marcus Semien, Robbie Grossman, Adolis Garcia
4-star plays: Nathaniel Lowe, Josh Jung, Jonah Heim
GPP Note: The Rangers are the top stack on the slate.
OAK 5-star plays: Esteury Ruiz
4-star plays: JJ Bleday, Brent Rooker
GPP Note: Eovaldi will likely be the highest owned pitcher on the slate, so there is leverage to be had with the A’s stack.
San Franciso Giants (-146) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (+124)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Alex Cobb will take the mound for the Giants and has been sneaky great this season. He’s sporting a 2.01 ERA and a 22.6% strikeout rate, he’s going to look like a very solid SP2 option on DraftKings and a nice mid-range option if you can’t get up to Eovalid or Rasmussen on FanDuel. I can’t say the same for Tommy Henry who is getting the start for Arizona. His production is trending up, but the DFS production hasn’t been there, he doesn’t have more than three strikeouts in any start this season, but maybe the Giants can help him out with their 26.1% strikeout rate. I don’t really see the need to get to him, but I guess on a short slate if you’re looking for a value option, he’s your guy.
SFG 5-star plays: Mitch Haniger
4-star plays: Wilmer Flores, Thairo Estrada, J.D. Davis
GPP Note: The Giants are right up there with the Rangers as a top stack on the slate.
ARI 5-star plays: Corbin Carroll
4-star plays: Josh Rojas, Ketel Marte, Christian Walker
GPP Note: I’ll probably have more interest in Cobb as a pitcher more than the Dbacks as a stack, but they have some interesting one-offs at the very least.
Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential, to games that could have significant winds that will play a roll in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.
