Main MLB Slate Player Projections and Stacks:
Texas Rangers (-113) @ Baltimore Orioles (-105)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
We’ll open up the day with Glenn Otto heading into Baltimore to take on the Orioles. Otto has given up a combined 10 earned runs over his last two games and likely won’t be a guy I want to have a piece of here… not to mention, this Baltimore offense has been pesky as of late. Spenser Watkins will start for the Orioles and has at least 33 FanDuel points in back-to-back games which are two of his best starts of the season. He has just a 12.6% strikeout rate on the season which isn’t anywhere near where I want my pitchers to be, so not a guy I want on this slate.
TEX 5-star plays: Marcus Semien, Corey Seager
4-star plays: Adolis Garcia, Nate Lowe
GPP Note: I like the Rangers a good amount here in all formats against Watkins.
BAL 5-star plays: Cedric Mullins
4-star plays: Trey Mancini, Ryan Mountcastle, Adley Rutschman, Anthony Santander
GPP Note: I like the Rangers bats slightly more, but both of these stacks are firmly in play.
New York Yankees (-245) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (+199)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Luis Severino will get the start for the Yankees in a great spot in a pitcher’s ballpark. Severino has been great this season and has at least 15.1 DraftKings points in four of his last five games to go along with a 28.9% strikeout rate on the season. He’s a guy I’ll have a good amount of on this slate. The Pirates will start Mitch Keller in a really tough matchup with this Yankees offense. Keller had a rough go of it last time out against the Nationals and won’t be a guy I go back to here either, this Yankees offense is elite, no matter the ballpark.
NYY 5-star plays: Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton
4-star plays: DJ LeMahieu, Anthony Rizzo, Josh Donaldson
GPP Note: I don’t love stacking in this ballpark, but I won’t talk anyone off of this stack.
PIT 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Oneil Cruz, Bryan Reynolds
GPP Note: Just one-offs for me, I like Severino quite a bit here.
Washington Nationals (+185) @ Philadelphia Phillies (-226)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Josiah Gray will get the ball for the Nationals in this one against a Phillies team that lit them up last night. Gray has been pretty good as of late outside of his last start with at least 33 FanDuel points in his four previous starts. I still don’t think he’s a guy I want to get to here, this Philadelphia offense is no joke even without Harper in there. Not to mention, he has a 1.78 HR/9 which is what these Phillies bats specialize in. Aaron Nola will start for the Phillies in a great matchup with the Nats. He’s the highest-priced pitcher on both sites for good reason. He has at least 23 DraftKings points in four of his last five to go along with a really nice 29.1% strikeout rate on the season.
WAS 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Juan Soto, Nelson Cruz
GPP Note: Just one-offs against Nola for me, he’s one of the better pitching options on the slate.
PHI 5-star plays: Kyle Schwarber
4-star plays: Nick Castellanos, Darick Hall, Rhys Hoskins
GPP Note: I have no problem going right back to the Phillies here.
Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential, to games that could have significant winds that will play a roll in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.
Tampa Bay Rays (+115) @ Boston Red Sox (-135)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
The Rays will send Corey Kluber to the mound in a tough matchup with Boston on the road in Fenway. Kluber is coming off of a rough start last time out against Toronto which is understandable against that team, but Boston has some boppers as well, so more of a GPP option than anything. Brayan Bello will get the start for Boston against a hot-hitting Rays team. The Rays have scored at least seven runs in three of their last four games. That being said, Bello is a top prospect in the Boston organization and has some really nice strikeout stuff with a 30+%-k rate each year outside of rookie ball in the minors. If you want to get whacky… he makes sense as a GPP flyer if you have some expensive bats.
TBR 5-star plays: Wander Franco
4-star plays: Isaac Paredes, Randy Arozarena, Yandy Diaz
GPP Note: The Rays are more of a mini-stack option for me than anything… I may have some Bello interest here.
BOS 5-star plays: Rafael Devers
4-star plays: JD Martinez, Trevor Story, Jarren Duran, Xander Bogaerts
GPP Note: Same story for the Red Sox here, more of a mini-stack or GPP full stack for me.
St. Louis Cardinals (+150) @ Atlanta Braves (-181)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
The Cardinals will send Miles Mikolas to the mound in a really tough matchup with the Braves who are smoking the ball right now. Mikolas came down to Earth last time out after dropping 26.5 DraftKings points in three of his previous four games. I’ll wait for a better matchup to go back to him with the other pitching options we have on this slate. The Braves will start Max Fried who has been in great form as well. He has at least 22.8 DraftKings points in four of his last five games. The Cardinals can be pesky but I have no issue getting to Fried in GPPs at the very least.
STL 5-star plays: Nolan Arenado
4-star plays: Paul Goldschmidt, Tommy Edman, Dylan Carlson
GPP Note: I don’t think I want to stack against Fried.
ATL 5-star plays: Ronald Acuna Jr.
4-star plays: Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Dansby Swanson
GPP Note: I get it if you want to stack the Braves, but Mikolas is good enough at limiting damage to where I’ll go elsewhere with my stacks.
Kansas City Royals (+230) @ Houston Astros (-282)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Brad Keller will get the start for the Royals against my top stack of the slate yesterday which ended up turning out alright thanks to Pena and Bregman. Keller is in solid enough form but I like going right back to the Astros in this one, so no real interest in him as a pitching option for me. Christian Javier will get the ball for Houston in a really nice matchup against this Royals team. Javier has been in terrific form with at least 13 strikeouts in back-to-back games leading him to back-to-back 45.2-point DraftKings outings… he’s an elite option yet again here.
KCR 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Whit Merrifield, Bobby Witt Jr.
GPP Note: I’ll have more interest in Javier than anything here from the Royals.
HOU 5-star plays: Yordan Alvarez, Kyle Tucker
4-star plays: Jose Altuve, Jeremy Pena, Alex Bregman
GPP Note: I have no issue going right back to the Astros stack here.

San Francisco Giants (-129) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (+110)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
The Giants will send Alex Cobb to the mound in a solid enough matchup with the Dbacks. Cobb has at least 24 FanDuel points in three of his last four and makes some sense as a value option depending on what your main stack is, but not a guy I’m forcing in. Merrill Kelly will get the start for the Dbacks against a pesky Giants team. He’s been pretty good as of late with at least 20.2 DraftKings points in three of his last five games and the price tag isn’t terrible, he’d be in a similar boat as Cobb for me.
SFG 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Joc Pederson, Wilmer Flores, Mike Yastrzemski
GPP Note: I can’t say I love this stack, but they’re a fine mini-stack team.
ARI 5-star plays: Ketel Marte
4-star plays: Christian Walker, David Peralta
GPP Note: Same deal for the Dbacks, more of a mini-stack team than anything.
Colorado Rockies (+270) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (-345)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Jose Urena will get the start for the Rockies in a really tough matchup against the Dodgers… he’s just not going to cut it for me on this slate. He’s a journeyman at this point in his career and was let go by the Brewers earlier in the season, the Dodgers are going to look like a top stacking option on this slate. It sounds like the Dodgers will start either Tony Gonsolin or Mitch White here after he was scratched yesterday. I would have interest in whichever one starts due to the matchup with Colorado away from Coors, they would both look like solid options.
COL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: CJ Cron, Kris Bryant
GPP Note: Just one-offs for me in this spot.
LAD 5-star plays: Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, Freddie Freeman
4-star plays: Will Smith, Justin Turner
GPP Note: Love the matchup… the Dodgers are a top stack for me on this slate.
