Main MLB Slate Player Projections and Stacks:
Chicago Cubs (-135) @ Baltimore Orioles (+115)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
We’ll start in Baltimore where Marcus Stroman will look to bounce back after a horrid start last time out against the Cardinals where he gave up nine earned runs. Baltimore hit the Keegan Thompson around a bit last night and had a big night, but I’d like to think Stroman is a better pitcher than Thompson is. Stroman is a ground ball guy on top of Baltimore being in the bottom five for home runs on the season… I think he could be sneaky at his current price tag. Jordan Lyles will start for the Orioles and is a guy I do like to stack against due to his tendency to give up the home run ball. But again, we’re just not seeing a ton of home runs in this park this season. I probably don’t want to use Lyles as an SP option due to his current form, but I’m not sure how much I want to fully stack the Cubs here either.
CHC 5-star plays: Willson Contreras
4-star plays: Christopher Morel, Ian Happ, Frank Schwindel
GPP Note: I’ll look at the Cubs more as a mini-stack team, but I won’t talk you off of a full-stack due to how bad this Orioles bullpen can be if they’re able to run Lyles early.
BAL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Cedric Mullins, Trey Mancini, Ryan Mountcastle
GPP Note: It feels gross, but I do like Stroman a bit as an SP2 option… that said, there are a few solid one-offs for Baltimore, but not a team I’m stacking.
St. Louis Cardinals (+145) @ Tampa Bay Rays (-175)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Packy Naughton is in the running for the best name in baseball and will also start for the Cardinals in this one. I’ve been saying it, but as long as this Rays team is without Brandon Lowe and Wander Franco, their lineup is really average at best. Naughton won’t be a guy we can look to as a pitching option due to not being stretched out, but the Rays aren’t a team I want to stack right now. Corey Kluber will start for the Rays after Jeffrey Springs kept it rolling for them last night. Kluber has been solid enough as of late with at least 19.7 DraftKings points in three of his last four games. I don’t love the matchup, but you can make a case for him in this price range.
STL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, Tommy Edman
GPP Note: The Cardinals will make my list of mini-stacks, but I’m not running out to stack against Kluber either.
TBR 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Randy Arozarena, Mike Zunino, Yandy Diaz
GPP Note: As I was mentioning, this lineup is just kind of ugly without Franco and Lowe, so not really a team I’m all that high on right now.
Texas Rangers (+139) @ Cleveland Guardians (-164)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Dane Dunning will get the start for Texas tonight, but keep an eye on the Weather Station as it looks like there will be some showers in the area which may make playing pitchers in this game difficult. The pitchers’ skill level may be the cause of that as well, but make sure this game is good to go as we approach lock. Assuming the game is a go, Dunning is coming off of a really nice start against the Mariners, if you fall on him in this price range I get it… but I think I would lean with Stroman instead. Konnor Pilkington will get the ball for the Guardians and is coming off of a big game as well. He has a 29% strikeout rate on the season, so the upside is there and the Rangers implied run total isn’t all that great here as well, I think Pilkington is a solid SP2 option for tournaments at the very least.
TEX 5-star plays: Marcus Semien
4-star plays: Corey Seager, Mitch Garver
GPP Note: Pilkington is a solid pitcher, but he can still be had, the Rangers are yet another team that I’ll have under my mini-stack list… this lineup gets pretty ugly after the top five batters.
CLE 5-star plays: Jose Ramirez
4-star plays: Josh Naylor, Myles Straw, Amed Rosario
GPP Note: I don’t love this lineup top to bottom, but the matchup is solid enough to warrant a mini-stack for tournaments.
Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential, to games that could have significant winds that will play a roll in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.
Oakland Athletics (+194) @ Atlanta Braves (-237)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Jared Koenig will start for Oakland and make his major league debut in a really tough matchup with the Braves. Koenig has a 2.21 ERA and 10.36 K/9 in the minors this season, so the numbers don’t look bad on him, but I’m just not going to force it in this matchup. I’d rather look to the Braves bats instead of Koenig personally. Ian Anderson will start on the other side and gets an elite matchup with this Oakland team that I continue to stream pitching against. Anderson had a nice bounce-back start last time out in Colorado which makes it look even better. He did get hit around a bit but he brought the strikeouts up. He’ll fall in that Stroman, Dunning, Pilkington range of pitching options, but is a guy that I’ll seriously consider as an SP2 option given the matchup.
OAK 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Ramon Laureano
GPP Note: I don’t think this A’s team will ever be a team a fully stack this season given how bad their lineup is.
ATL 5-star plays: Ronald Acuna Jr.
4-star plays: Austin Riley, Matt Olson, Dansby Swanson, Ozzie Albies
GPP Note: The Braves look like a great stack up and down the order here against Koenig’s major league debut.
New York Yankees (-177) @ Minnesota Twins (+150)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Nasty Nestor Cortes will get the ball for the Yankees as they head into Minnesota here. Cortes has been unreal this season and has a quality start in three of his last four games to go along with four straight wins. I do think he has a little regression coming his way, but for the most part, looks like the real deal. The Twins aren’t really a team I’m all that afraid of, so he’ll look like a solid pitching option in all formats. Chris Archer will start for the Twins and gets a really tough matchup against this Yankees team. He hasn’t been all that great for DFS either, so not a guy that I’ll be getting to all that much given our other pitching options on this slate.
NYY 5-star plays: Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton
4-star plays: DJ LeMahieu, Anthony Rizzo, Josh Donaldson
GPP Note: I like going right back to the Yankees here, Archer doesn’t scare me off, they’ll look solid in all formats.
MIN 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Byron Buxton, Jorge Polanco, Carlos Correa
GPP Note: Just one-offs here for me, Cortes seems like the real deal.

Philadelphia Phillies (-131) @ Milwaukee Brewers (+110)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Aaron Nola will get the start for the Phillies in what is a pretty good matchup right now. The Brewers have been ice cold at the plate but could be getting Willy Adames back here which will help things. That being said, Nola will look like a nice pitching option on this slate. The Brewers are striking out at a 24% rate on the season to go along with Nola’s 30.2% strikeout rate. The Brewers will send Adrian Houser to the mound and looks fine here, but I think I would rather just save the money and go down to that Stroman range of pitching. The Phillies haven’t been all that great as of late, but they still have a ton of firepower.
PHI 5-star plays: Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper
4-star plays: Nick Castellanos, Rhys Hoskins
GPP Note: I think the Phillies are going to burst at some point and have a massive game, so I want to be on them before they get hot.
MIL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Christian Yelich, Rowdy Tellez, Willy Adames
GPP Note: Tough spot for the Brewers, so I’ll stick to one-offs.
Seattle Mariners (+212) @ Houston Astros (-261)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
The Mariners will send Chris Flexen to the mound in a tough matchup with the Astros on the road. I don’t really see a need to get to him on this slate either, that being said, he did put up 24.4 DraftKings points in this spot two starts ago… so maybe he’s got Houston’s number? Justin Verlander will start on the other side of this one which hurts Flexen’s win equity as well. Verlander will look like an elite SP1 option on this slate against a weaker Seattle offense. There are times when the Mariners look solid, but it’s not against Verlander, he’s a great option in all formats.
SEA 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Julio Rodriguez, Ty France, Jesse Winker
GPP Note: Just one-offs against Verlander.
HOU 5-star plays: Kyle Tucker, Yordan Alvarez
4-star plays: Jose Altuve, Michael Brantley, Alex Bregman
GPP Note: The Astors look like a nice stack in all formats.
Philadelphia Phillies (-105) @ Milwaukee Brewers (-113)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Ranger Suarez will start as the Phillies head into Milwaukee against a scuffling Brewers offense. That being said, Suarez hasn’t exactly been great either and is probably a guy that I’ll wait for his production to come up before I go back to him. This Brewers team is also getting healthier with Willy Adames and Hunter Renfroe likely returning to the lineup. Jason Alexander had a nice seven-inning outing in his Brewers debut last time out and earned another start in this one. He’s not a huge strikeout guy so probably not a guy I want to go with in DFS including a tougher matchup with a Phillies lineup that should have some nice production in this ballpark and are a team I like quite a bit here for stacking.
PHI 5-star plays: Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper
4-star plays: Nick Castellanos, Rhys Hoskins
GPP Note: I like this Phillies stack maybe a little more than I should, but I think they take advantage of the ballpark here.
MIL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Christian Yelich, Willy Adames, Hunter Renfroe, Andrew McCutchen
GPP Note: More of a mini-stack due to how cold they are at the plate, but solid at the very least.

Los Angeles Dodgers (-175) @ Chicago White Sox (+148)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Tony Gonsolin will start for the Dodgers and has been really good as of late with at least 22.3 DraftKings points in five straight games. I have no issue going right back to him here as a big favorite against this White Sox team. Chicago will send Johnny Cueto to the mound who has been solid enough to be productive with at least six innings pitched in each game this season. That said, he doesn’t really have the strikeout upside that I’m looking for and gets a bad matchup against this Dodgers lineup.
LAD 5-star plays: Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman
4-star plays: Trea Turner, Justin Turner, Will Smith
GPP Note: The Dodgers will look great again here, I like them in all formats.
CHW 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Luis Robert, Jose Abreu
GPP Note: Gonsolin has been good enough as of late and I don’t want to go too crazy against him in this one.
Boston Red Sox (-166) @ Los Angeles Angels (+144)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Nathan Eovaldi will start for Boston and has been really good as of late with at least 30 DraftKings points in three straight games and will look like a nice option against a scuffling Angels team. The Angels will likely be without Mike Trout here as well which makes this an even better matchup. Reid Detmers will take the mound for the Angels and probably won’t be a guy I’m all that interested in against this Boston team that has some big lefty mashers in it. He’s another one of those guys that I would rather just go down to that cheaper range of guys.
BOS 5-star plays: Trevor Story, JD Martinez
4-star plays: Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers
GPP Note: Boston looks solid in all formats here.
LAA 5-star plays: Shohei Ohtani
4-star plays: Jared Walsh, Jo Adell, Brandon Marsh
GPP Note: Eovaldi is rolling right now, more of a secondary team and one-offs for me.
New York Mets (+115) @ San Diego Padres (-135)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Chris Bassitt will start for the Mets and has been pretty solid to start the season. He has a 25% strikeout rate going back to the start of last season and this Padres lineup doesn’t scare me in a pitcher’s ballpark. Then Sean Manaea will get the ball for San Diego and looks like a nice option as well. The implied run total for the Mets is pretty low and the bottom this order is not pretty right now. Manaea has big strikeout upside and is a guy I’ll have exposure to tonight.
NYM 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Franciso Lindor, Peter Alonso, Starling Marte
GPP Note: Probably just one-offs from the Mets against Manaea.
SDP 5-star plays: Manny Machado
4-star plays: Jake Cronenworth
GPP Note: Similar story here, just one-off guys.
Colorado Rockies (+185) @ San Francisco Giants (-221)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
We’ll round out the slate with Antonio Senzatela heading into San Fran to face off against a Giants team that has a pretty solid implied run total at 5.5. Senzatela has not been good this season, so he’s not in play as a pitching option and makes this Giants stack look pretty legit. Alex Wood will be his mound opponent and will be a guy that I have interest in, anytime we can get the Rockies out of Coors Field I’ll have an interest. Wood has been fine against the Rockies this season with a 2.79 ERA and a guy that will look like a solid SP2 at the very least.
COL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: CJ Cron, Brendan Rodgers
GPP Note: I’ll have more interest in Wood than any of these Rockies bats.
SFG 5-star plays: Mike Yastrzemski, Joc Pederson
4-star plays: Wilmer Flores, Tommy La Stella
GPP Note: The Giants will look really solid here against a bad pitcher in Senzatela.
