Main MLB Slate Player Projections and Stacks:
Texas Rangers (+118) @ Cleveland Guardians (-138)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
We’ll start in Cleveland where Taylor Hearn will get the start for the Rangers. Hearn has a fine strikeout rate in his career, but on a 13-game slate I think we can do much better especially against a Guardians team with a 4.9 implied total. I get the price tag being cheap, but the reward just isn’t there. Konnor Pilkington will start for Cleveland and has actually been solid to start the season and is coming off of the best start of his career. That being said, I think it’s another case where we can afford to get picky on a slate of this size. I do think he’s a fine value for tournaments but not someone I’m going to go too crazy on.
***As I write this, Monday’s game has been scheduled as a doubleheader for Tuesday which will take this game off of the main slate***
TEX 5-star plays: Marcus Semien
4-star plays: Corey Seager, Mitch Garver, Adolis Garcia
GPP Note: Texas looks solid here and has started to heat up toward the top of the order.
CLE 5-star plays: Jose Ramirez
4-star plays: Andres Giminez, Amed Rosario
GPP Note: Probably more of a mini-stack team even though the implied run total is pretty good, I just don’t like the bottom of the lineup outside of Gimenez.
Detroit Tigers (-127) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (+109)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Tarik Skubal will start for the Tigers and looks like a really nice option in a pitcher’s ballpark against a below-average Pirates offense. Skubal has been unreal as of late with at least 30 DraftKings points in two of his last four games and has a 27% strikeout rate on the season. Jose Quintana will get the ball for the Pirates and also looks like a decent enough option considering his price tag. He has a sub-3.00 ERA on the season but has been pretty average for DFS purposes over his last couple of games. I do like the matchup and think you could do worse in this price range, however.
DET 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Javier Baez, Willi Castro, Jonathan Schoop
GPP Note: I will probably just stick with one-offs from the Tigers, I just don’t like stacking teams in this ballpark all that much.
PIT 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: None
GPP Note: I really like Skubal in this spot.
Chicago Cubs (-109) @ Baltimore Orioles (-109)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Keegan Thompson will start for the Cubbies in this one and heads into Baltimore which is playing more like a pitchers park since they moved the outfield wall back in the offseason. Thompson has been sneaky good in terms of DFS for his price tag. He has at least 22 FanDuel points in four straight games and gets a solid matchup here, I do like his FanDuel price tag more than I like him on DraftKings with that said. Kyle Bradish will take the mound for Baltimore and I don’t think is as bad as his salary and ERA suggest. He’s still sporting a 24.3% strikeout rate on the season and gets a nice matchup with a below-average Cubs offense. If you want to get crazy with a punt SP, I don’t absolutely hate him here.
CHC 5-star plays: Willson Contreras
4-star plays: Christopher Morel, Ian Happ
GPP Note: I don’t think it’s a mistake if you want to stack the Cubs but I’ll be underweight if they end up being popular.
BAL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Cedric Mullins, Trey Mancini, Ryan Mountcastle
GPP Note: I don’t love this lineup top to bottom, but the matchup is solid enough to warrant a mini-stack for tournaments.
Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential, to games that could have significant winds that will play a roll in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.
St. Louis Cardinals (+125) @ Tampa Bay Rays (-148)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Dakota Hudson will get the ball for the Cardinals against a Rays team that is still missing Wander Franco and Brandon Lowe. As long as they’re still missing these guys I’ll have interest in opposing pitchers. Hudson isn’t a terrible pitcher, but he’s just not all that productive for DFS due to his 13.0% strikeout rate… that won’t cut it. I like more upside out of my pitchers, so he’s probably not a guy I’ll get a whole lot of. I do like Jeffrey Springs on the other side of this one, but I don’t love the matchup. This Cardinals team can pick a pitcher apart, or completely suck, they’re a bit volatile in that sense. However, if we just look at the talent, Springs is more talented than his price tag suggests
STL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, Tommy Edman
GPP Note: I will definitely have a good share of Springs on this slate, but that doesn’t take the Cardinals out of play by any means.
TBR 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Randy Arozarena
GPP Note: This lineup is just so ugly without Franco and Lowe, I’ll be underweight against a pitcher that is good at limiting damage.
Oakland Athletics (+195) @ Atlanta Braves (-235)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Cole Irvin will start for Oakland and has been a fine pitcher this season, but I don’t know if I want to get too whacky with him against the Braves in their home park. The price tag isn’t much of a discount either, so I’ll likely be underweight. Kyle Wright will be his mound opponent and has been really good as of late with at least 22.7 DraftKings poitns in three of his last four games. I’ve been streaming pitchers against this A’s team all season and this won’t be a matchup where I stop doing so, Wright looks like an elite option in all formats.
OAK 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: None
GPP Note: I like Wright too much to even think about much of this A’s lineup.
ATL 5-star plays: Ronald Acuna Jr.
4-star plays: Austin Riley, Matt Olson, Dansby Swanson
GPP Note: The Braves are definitely stackable here against Irvin at home, I like them top to bottom.

New York Yankees (-) @ Minnesota Twins (-)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Jameson Taillon will take the mound for the Yankees as they head into Minnesota. He’s another guy that has been really good as of late with at least seven innings pitched in three straight and at least 43 FanDuel points in all three of those games. He’s someone I’ll go right back to here as a great option in all formats. The Twins will send Cole Sands to the hill in a really tough matchup against this Yankees offense. Sands has been solid in the minors before hitting AAA this season, where he had a 7.23 ERA in five starts and now has a 7.88 ERA in eight innings pitched in the majors, just not a guy I think we need to get to on this slate.
NYY 5-star plays: Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton
4-star plays: DJ LeMahieu, Josh Donaldson, Anthony Rizzo
GPP Note: The Yankees will be a top stack on this slate for me.
MIN 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Byron Buxton
GPP Note: I don’t think this recent surge by Taillon is a fluke, I’ll be low on the Twins here.
Seattle Mariners (+212) @ Houston Astros (-261)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
The Mariners will send Chris Flexen to the mound in a tough matchup with the Astros on the road. I don’t really see a need to get to him on this slate either, that being said, he did put up 24.4 DraftKings points in this spot two starts ago… so maybe he’s got Houston’s number? Justin Verlander will start on the other side of this one which hurts Flexen’s win equity as well. Verlander will look like an elite SP1 option on this slate against a weaker Seattle offense. There are times when the Mariners look solid, but it’s not against Verlander, he’s a great option in all formats.
SEA 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Julio Rodriguez, Ty France, Jesse Winker
GPP Note: Just one-offs against Verlander.
HOU 5-star plays: Kyle Tucker, Yordan Alvarez
4-star plays: Jose Altuve, Michael Brantley, Alex Bregman
GPP Note: The Astors look like a nice stack in all formats.
Philadelphia Phillies (-105) @ Milwaukee Brewers (-113)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Ranger Suarez will start as the Phillies head into Milwaukee against a scuffling Brewers offense. That being said, Suarez hasn’t exactly been great either and is probably a guy that I’ll wait for his production to come up before I go back to him. This Brewers team is also getting healthier with Willy Adames and Hunter Renfroe likely returning to the lineup. Jason Alexander had a nice seven-inning outing in his Brewers debut last time out and earned another start in this one. He’s not a huge strikeout guy so probably not a guy I want to go with in DFS including a tougher matchup with a Phillies lineup that should have some nice production in this ballpark and are a team I like quite a bit here for stacking.
PHI 5-star plays: Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper
4-star plays: Nick Castellanos, Rhys Hoskins
GPP Note: I like this Phillies stack maybe a little more than I should, but I think they take advantage of the ballpark here.
MIL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Christian Yelich, Willy Adames, Hunter Renfroe, Andrew McCutchen
GPP Note: More of a mini-stack due to how cold they are at the plate, but solid at the very least.

Toronto Blue Jays (-225) @ Kansas City Royals (+185)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Alek Manoah will get the start for the Jays in this one and gets an elite matchup against a light-hitting Royals team. He has at least 21 DraftKings points in three straight with a sub-2.00 ERA on the season. He’ll be an elite pitching option on this slate and a guy I want to get a good deal of. Brad Keller will start for the Royals in a tough matchup against a red-hot Jays lineup… I don’t think we need to go here, I’ll have a good amount of Jays bats.
TOR 5-star plays: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette
4-star plays: Teoscar Hernandez, Alejandro Kirk, George Springer, Matt Chapman
GPP Note: I like going right back to the Jays in this spot against Keller.
KCR 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Whit Merrifield
GPP Note: Manoah will be a top pitcher on the slate for me, so no reason to go here.
Los Angeles Dodgers (-124) @ Chicago White Sox (+105)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
The Dodgers will send Mitch White to the mound in this one, he’s not exactly a great pitcher but does have a 25% strikeout rate on the season if you want to get whacky in tournaments, but not a guy I want to get a whole lot of on this state. Michael Kopech will start for Chicago in a really tough matchup but has been really good this season. He had a rough start last time out but has a 2.20 ERA on the season and a solid 31% strikeout rate. The matchup will keep his ownership down, so no issue going back to him in GPPs.
LAD 5-star plays: Mookie Betts
4-star plays: Trea Turner, Freddie Freeman
GPP Note: I’m fine with one-offs, but I don’t really want to stack against Kopech.
CHW 5-star plays: Luis Robert
4-star plays: Andrew Vaughn, Jose Abreu, Yasmani Grandal
GPP Note: The lineup isn’t as good as one might think, but I do think they’re in play for tournaments due to the matchup.
Boston Red Sox (-) @ Los Angeles Angels (-)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Garrett Whitlock will start for Boston against a really struggling Angels team. That being said, even though they’re scuffling right now, this offense is still very legit, so they have the capability of sparking a fire at any point. I don’t think we need to get to Whitlock on this slate. Reid Detmers will start for the Angels and has been pretty average outside of a massive game against the Rays a few games back. This Sox lineup is pretty good and won’t be a guy I want to get to here.
BOS 5-star plays: JD Martinez, Trevor Story
4-star plays: Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers
GPP Note: I have no issue with the Sox stack in this one against Detmers.
LAA 5-star plays: Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani
4-star plays: Jared Walsh
GPP Note: They’re struggling, but I like the matchup and lineup enough to go back to them here.
New York Mets (+110) @ San Diego Padres (-130)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
Taijuan Walker will get the ball for the Mets and has been held under 20 FanDuel points in three of his last four games. I just don’t think the risk/reward is worth it for him in this one on a big slate. The Padres will start Yu Darvish who has struggled a bit on the season but we know the ceiling is still there for him. He has a 27% strikeout rate going back to the start of last season and will be a guy I have some exposure to in this one.
NYM 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: Franciso Lindor, Peter Alonso, Starling Marte
GPP Note: I think if you stack the Mets you’ll want to fully stack them, Darvish can get blown up… they’re not a top stack for me but I get it if you want to find some leverage.
SDP 5-star plays: Manny Machado
4-star plays: Luke Voit, Jake Cronenworth
GPP Note: Even though I don’t really like Taijuan Walker, I don’t really like this Padres team either.
Colorado Rockies (+190) @ San Franciso Giants (-235)
Implied Run Totals:
Rundown:
We’ll round out the day with German Marquez and the Rockies heading into San Fran. He has not been good this season with a 6.71 ERA and has actually been worse away from Coors Field… not a guy I want to get to here and think the Giants look like a nice stack here. Carlos Rodon will start for the Giants and gets a great matchup against the Rockies away from Coors. He bounced back last time out and will be a guy that looks like a nice option in all formats.
COL 5-star plays: None
4-star plays: CJ Cron, Charlie Blackmon
GPP Note: I don’t really play the Rockies away from Coors, especially in a tough matchup.
SFG 5-star plays: Mike Yastrzemski, Brandon Crawford
4-star plays: Wilmer Flores, Joc Pederson, Tommy La Stella
GPP Note: I like the Giants quite a bit to round out today’s slate of games.
