My Take on a Consistent MLB DFS Process – Looking at Pitchers
I always start an MLB slate by looking at pitching, not only do you get a grasp on who the pitchers are that you want to target, but gives you a holistic look at the slate as well. Breaking down pitching also gives you an idea of what offenses are in good spots against bad/vulnerable pitchers. I start my research by going straight to the MLB Carnage Report this is where we can analyze all the pitchers on the slate in a compact, yet detailed manner. Below are the three pitchers that jumped out to me at first glance, good or bad.
- Walker Buehler
- Framber Valdez
- Dylan Bundy

Atlanta Braves (-120) @ Arizona Diamondbacks
Pitchers:
Braves – Spencer Strider
D’Backs – Zac Gallen
Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 8.5. I really love this pitching match-up so I was shocked to see a total at 8.5. Strider has nasty stuff and has been used in kind of a swingman role so far. Gallen, as you guys know, is always one of my favorites. He takes on a very dangerous offense but one that does strike out quite a bit.
ATL 5-star plays: NONE
4-star plays: Austin Riley, Ronald Acuna Jr.
GPP Note: Team ISO of .132 over the last week.
ARI 5-star plays: NONE
4-star plays: Ketel Marte
GPP Note: Team ISO of .178 over the last week.
Milwaukee Brewers (-115) @ Chicago Cubs – Game 1
Pitchers:
Brewers – Ethan Small
Cubs – Matthew Swarmer
Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 11. The wind is blowing out at Wrigley! The last time we saw this, I think the D’Backs hit 33 HRs or something along those lines. Small is a bit more talented than Swarmer but neither pitcher is going to be able to defeat the wind and weather in Chicago.
MIL 5-star plays: NONE
4-star plays: Rowdy Tellez, Luis Urias
GPP Note: Team ISO of .112 over the last week.
CHC 5-star plays: Patrick Wisdom

Kansas City Royals @ Cleveland Guardians (-160)
Pitchers:
Royals – Jonathan Heasley
Guardians – Zach Plesac
Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 9.5. We get an elevated total between a couple of below-average teams. Neither pitcher excites me so I think we should focus on both offenses. My issue is that neither offense is one that we really want to fully stack. Ramirez-Naylor let me down on Sunday but I am going back to them today.
KC 5-star plays: Andrew Benintendi
4-star plays: Bobby Witt Jr
GPP Note: Team ISO of .153 over the last week.
CLE 5-star plays: Jose Ramirez
4-star plays: Josh Naylor

Washington Nationals @ New York Mets (-185)
Pitchers:
Nationals – Erick Fedde
Mets – David Peterson
Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 8.5. The Nationals aren’t an offense we want to fully stack but I could see a few guys performing against Peterson. The Mets are where I want to be in terms of attacking this game. They are rolling at the plate and there are a few Mets with positive BvP against Fedde.
WSH 5-star plays: NONE
4-star plays: Nelson Cruz, Juan Soto
GPP Note: Team ISO of .164 over the last week.
NYM 5-star plays: Pete Alonso

Miami Marlins (-150) @ Colorado Rockies
Pitchers:
Marlins – Pablo Lopez
Rockies – Ryan Feltner
Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 10. Comp crashed, will attempt to get updated this afternoon. Coors game is always in play for us but I tend to play the fade of a first game in Coors. Lopez could be a sneaky play for us.
