MLB DFS Main Slate Advice | Picks, Stacks, Strategy Projections Today September 9th | Fanduel Draftkings

Hello again everybody, and welcome to today’s MLB Full Count breakdown!  I’m nilly and I run the carnage report and DraftKings tiers tools.  I also coach NASCAR, so be sure to check us out every weekend over there, too.  We don’t have too many games today, but the money is always green, so let’s take a peek at our  matchups and see how we might be able to come away with a little more.

A look at pitchers

It’s a small day with not too many pitching options, but there are some good ones.  Urias looks to be the best bet with the early games, while Stroman looks pretty good for the later games.  To go with them, we have some decent GPP options like Lopez and Berrios, both with some decent KSCOREs coming in.  As always, be sure to check out the coach’s notes page to get an idea of where they’re looking!

NFL DFS Fantasy Football Pass

Early slates

Los Angeles Dodgers at St Louis Cardinals

We’ll kick things off with the Dodgers and Cardinals, and while the red birds triumphed yesterday, I think the Dodgers will take this one.  They look to have Urias coming in, and I think he’ll be able to contain their offense pretty well.

Dodgers 5 star plays – none
Dodgers 4 star plays – Betts, Turner/Turner, Seager
GPP note – Woodford has somewhat soft numbers, but also looked pretty decent in his return.  I don’t know that he has the same luck here, but hedging a little isn’t a terrible idea, just in case.

Cardinals 5 star plays – none
Cardinals 4 star plays
– Goldschmidt/Arenado, O’Neil/Edman
GPP note
– These guys have solid numbers against lefties lately, though Urias has been very tough.  This too would be a good hedging spot, though I’m leaning more towards Urias here.

Chicago White Sox at Oakland Athletics

Next up are the White Sox and Athletics, with Lopez and Manaea getting the start.  This one looks to be more in the favor of the White Sox, though both teams can put up some runs in a hurry.  I’m not sure how fast they’ll come against Lopez though.

White Sox 5 star plays – none
White Sox 4 star plays – Abreu, Robert, Grandal
GPP note – Manaea has very soft numbers against righties, and this team is full of them…several hitting pretty well right now.  Would be a good place to form a few stacks.

Athletics 5 star plays – none
Athletics 4 star plays
– Chapman/Canha, Harrison
GPP note
– Much tougher matchup for these guys, though they’re not hitting poorly by any means.  Lopez allows a bit more power to righties than he does lefties.

Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential to games that could have significant winds that will play a role in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.

Late slates

Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Indians

Moving on to the later games, we start with the Twins and Indians.  We’ll see Quantrill and Dobnak here, and I think I’d give this one to Quantrill.  Dobnak doesn’t have terrible statcast numbers, but he certainly isn’t striking anybody out or racking up any fantasy points for us.

Twins 5 star plays – none
Twins 4 star plays – Polanco, Donaldson, Sano/Kepler
GPP note – Pretty strict numbers all around, though Cal is allowing .177 ISO to lefties.

Indians 5 star plays – none
Indians 4 star plays
– Reyes, Ramirez
GPP note
– Dobnak isn’t pitching too poorly, at least not as badly as his fantasy production would indicate, but he’s not striking anybody out, either.  That tells me he’s bound to get shelled here before too long, and this could be the place it happens.

New York Mets at Miami Marlins

Next up is Stroman and the Mets taking on Luzardo and the Marlins, and again, I like the visitors here.  Not that it should be a surprise, as Stroman is looking better than Luzardo, and we know who has the more potent offense.

Mets 5 star plays – none
Mets 4 star plays – Alonso, Lindor/Conforto
GPP note – Luzardo is allowing all sorts of contact and power to both sides of the plate, so you can attack him from either side.  .291 ISO to righties, .233 ISO to lefties.

Marlins 5 star plays – none
Marlins 4 star plays
– none
GPP note
– If you’re attacking Stroman, it’s best to do it with traditional splits, as he’s been very strict to righties.  Maybe some small stacks could work, but I wouldn’t get carried away.

Colorado Rockies at Philadelphia Phillies

We get the Rockies coming out of Coors next, with Senzatela at the helm, taking on Suarez and the Phillies.  Teams sometimes get a little weird coming out of there, so they might be a little sluggish here, but we’ll see how that goes.  It won’t help them that Suarez has been looking fairly sharp, so they’ll have their work cut out for them.  It could be a good spot for the Phillies to do some more damage, too.

Rockies 5 star plays – none
Rockies 4 star plays – Story, Rodgers, Blackmon
GPP note – Suarez has been settling in and getting tougher, and he has some of the best splits on the slate.  I don’t know that attacking him here is the best plan.

Phillies 5 star plays – Harper
Phillies 4 star plays
– Miller
GPP note
– A decent place to attack, Senzatela allows power to lefties and their bullpen is always fun to pick on.  I don’t know that they’ll score 10+ again, but they should have some good opportunities here.

MLB DFS Research Projections

Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees

We get the Blue Jays and Yankees next, a couple of teams that can really light up the scoreboard.  They’ll have Berrios and Cortes on the mound, two pitchers coming in with respectable numbers that will try their best to keep this one on the under.  This could be a good place to grab a few hedge lineups, as both pitchers and offenses show some good upside potential.

Blue Jays 5 star plays – none
Blue Jays 4 star plays – Semien, Guerrero, Bichette, Kirk
GPP note – Cortes allows about equal power (just under .200 ISO) to both sides of the plate, so you can attack him from either side.  He’s got a decent strikeout rate and good splits though, so going all in here might not be the best approach.

Yankees 5 star plays – none
Yankees 4 star plays
– Judge/Stanton, Rizzo, Odor
GPP note
– Much the same as Cortes, Berrios is allowing some power (more to lefties) but his xwOBA/wOBA numbers are pretty solid.

Kansas City Royals at Baltimore Orioles

We get the Royals and Orioles up next, who finally woke up their bats yesterday.  They’ll have a good chance to do it again here, as both face some softer-than-average pitching.  Feel free to grab bats from all over the place here, as they’re all in good spots.

Royals 5 star plays – Perez
Royals 4 star plays – Merrifield, Santana/Benintendi
GPP note – Means allows a ton of power to righties, but not so much to lefties.  However, the bullpen can get dinged up by anybody, so don’t be afraid of the lefties here for the mid/late game.

Orioles 5 star plays – none
Orioles 4 star plays
– Mullins, Santander, Mountcastle
GPP note
– Hernandez allows more power to righties (reverse splits), but again, the KC bullpen is anything but scary.  You can go with anybody here.

Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves

We’ll wrap up this little slate with the Nationals and Braves, with Fedde and Ynoa getting the start.  Both should have some good chances at making something happen, though the Braves certainly get the better matchup against Fedde.  Speaking of which, he’s got some reverse splits going on, so don’t forget to try some Atlanta righties.

Nationals 5 star plays –
Nationals 4 star plays – Soto/Bell, Garcia
GPP note – Traditional splits are in play here, as Ynoa is allowing double the ISO (.235) to lefties.  Most of this team is leaving a bit to be desired against righties, but are at least a few good options.

Braves 5 star plays – none
Braves 4 star plays
– Freeman/Albies, Riley/Duvall, Siler
GPP note
– Reverse splits – Fedde is allowing .385 xwOBA / .189 ISO to righties, and .290 xwOBA / .143 ISO to lefties.  You can attack him from either side, but don’t be afraid to grab some RvR bats here.
