You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My Take on a Consistent MLB DFS Process – Looking at Pitchers
I always start an MLB slate by looking at pitching, not only do you get a grasp on who the pitchers are that you want to target. But it also gives you an idea of what offenses are in good spots against bad/vulnerable pitchers. I start my research by going straight to the Nilly’s MLB Carnage Report, this is where we can analyze all the pitchers on the slate in a compact, yet detailed manner. Below are the three pitchers that popped out to me at first glance.

- Frankie Montas

Miami Marlins @ Atlanta Braves (-135)
Starting Pitchers:
Marlins – Sixto Sanchez
Braves – Kyle Wright
Rundown:
This game has opened with a total set at 8.5 runs. This game is being played at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Wright finished the season pretty strong but he wasn’t very good prior to that. He has some control issues and this Marlins squad put up 8 runs against him in his 7 IP. He walked 8 and struck out just 5 in those two starts while allowing 9 hits and 3 HRs. Sanchez looked strong early on against the Cubs before hitting a wall but he still shut them down in the first round. He finished the season against this ATL squad and they knocked him around as he finished with negative DK points. This will be the third time each team has seen the opposing SP.

Rundown:
Waiting on Vegas information. This game is being played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. I am seeing some reports that it could be Javier for the Astros. I would imagine that it’s either he or Greinke but Greinke apparently has been dealing with an arm issue. We have seen a TON of offense in this series and with the SP options being so weak, we should see a whole lot more offense.

4-star plays: Michael Brantley, Jose Altuve

San Diego Padres @ Los Angeles Dodgers
Starting Pitchers:
Padres – Adrian Morejon/Chris Paddack?
Dodgers – Julio Urias
Rundown:
Waiting on Vegas information. This game is being played at Globe Life Field in Arlington (Texas Rangers). We are still waiting on SP confirmations and I assume that’s what is holding up the Vegas information. If we see Paddack against this LAD team, he is going to be in for a long night. They have hit 7 HRs against him in 77 ABs. They also have 10 doubles against him. Over his last 10 appearances, Urias has allowed more than 2 runs just twice. He allowed 2 runs to SD over 6.1 IP in a win earlier this season.

4-star plays: Fernando Tatis Jr, Manny Machado

Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 9.5. This game is being played at PetCo Park in San Diego. We have an elimination game for the Yankees as they rely on Jordan Montgomery and/or a bullpen game. I think we see some more offense here as the ball seems to be carrying on the West Coast. I still prefer the HOU-OAK game for offense but this one has the better bats in general.
NYY 5-star plays: Giancarlo Stanton
4-star plays: Luke Voit, Aaron Judge
GPP Note: Have hit 14 HRs through 5 postseason games so far.
TB 5-star plays: Randy Arozarena

Playoff Prediction of the Day:
We will not see a SINGLE SP pick up a quality start on FD. We get a slate of SPs that are either treated with kids’ gloves or are being opened for so they aren’t eligible. That is going to make the bats the most important part of your builds on FD.
