Cash players – 8/20/2018
Zack Wheeler (NYM P: $9,100 FD | $9,300 DK) – We have some concerns with the high-dollar arms today (Kluber and Cole both have difficult matchups), but fortunately for us, we have a cheaper option that still offers plenty of safety for cash games. That would be Wheeler, who has a super low 1.75 carnage rating and a slate-best .215 combined wOBA / .053 ISO. His 496 KSCORE today only trails behind Cole, and none of the Giants are running particularly hot against right-handed pitchers right now. All in all, Wheeler makes a solid option if you aren’t fond of the idea of attacking Boston or Seattle batters today.
Matt Chapman (OAK 3B: $3,000 FD | $4,300 DK) – I’ll start today off with a very solid box-checker who is popping off the page everywhere; Chapman is hitting .417 wOBA and .350 ISO against righties over the last couple of weeks, while Colon has allowed .385 wOBA and .291 ISO to righties over his last 5 starts. He’s also 5 for 8 with two home runs and zero strikeouts against Colon, so he’s sure to be a popular choice today.
Kendrys Morales (TOR 1B: $2,300 FD | $3,500 DK) – Kendrys has started to heat up recently and gets another great matchup today to keep that going. He’s hitting .388 wOBA (.462 xwOBA) against righties, while Cashner is allowing .343 wOBA (.396 xwOBA) to the left side of the plate. Kendrys is also 4 for 7 with one home run against him, which only adds to the (already high) value he offers at his low cost today.
Like what you see here, but wish you could quickly find more batters in good spots like these ones are? I upload a list of every batter that meets the requirements I’m looking for, every single day, and today’s list has 32 batters on it. Everybody gets a few here, but our VIPs get the rest! Whit Merrifield (KCR 2B/OF: $3,500 FD | $4,000 DK) – Consistency has been Whit’s game all season long and I expect him to keep that going today. He’s hitting .373 wOBA against righties while Wood has allowed .505 wOBA and .300 ISO to right-handed batters over the last month. He offers both a solid floor and a reasonably high ceiling with his base-stealing and multi-hit potential.
Joey Wendle (TBR 2B: $2,300 FD | $3,900 DK) – On the other side of that game, Wendle has shown plenty of consistency as well, especially with his very low 9.09% strikeout rate. He’s also hitting .374 xwOBA against righties while Lopez has allowed lots of big hits (.286 ISO) to lefties. If you don’t take Kendrys at 1B on DraftKings, Choi makes a good 1B option to pair with Wendle for a two-man cash stack.
