Hello everyone, and welcome back to the MLB cash academy at the DFS Army! I go by nillyJay in the DFS Army where I coach and contribute content for MLB, NASCAR, and all things cash games related (such as proper bankroll management and cash ladders). Our resident shark killer was at it again last night…

That comes out to around $400,000 for him this MLB season, and most of that he’s won over the last few weeks. What’s his secret? He’s a member of the DFS Army!
The basics
Please refer to the original article here if you’re unfamiliar with any of the stats or terminology used in the notes below. NEW! If you want to read more about my carnage rating system, you can do so here.
Yesterday’s results

There were lots of zeroes all over the place last night, but Flaherty and Bell made sure we crossed the finish line comfortably (not pictured: Bauer – 50 FD | 31.05 DK).
Cash players – 8/12/2018
Chris Sale (BOS P: $12,800 FD | $12,500 DK) – Happy Chris Sale day! Our favorite ace is back and he gets a weakened version of a team he’s run through twice already this year. He’s had a ridiculous season so far and everything points to him having another great game today. To start, he has by far the most Vegas support today (-345 moneyline and 2.75 implied runs), and he tops the charts on everything in my model; he has a 1.78 carnage rating, a combined wOBA of .169, a massive 675 KSCORE, and a flat-out ridiculous VKSORE of 1150 (which is nearly twice as much as Carrasco’s). Yeah, he’s expensive, but you know I’m going to drop a few value batters in here to make it work!
Marcus Stroman (TOR P: $7,600 FD | $7,000 DK) – Speaking of value, Stroman makes a solid SP2 option on DraftKings, and using him will allow $3,812 per player for the rest of your lineup. That’s more than enough to afford Sale today. As for Stroman, he has a -128 moneyline and 3.80 implied runs against a team that doesn’t have a single player with any experience against him, and he carries a very respectable .326 carnage rating. His wOBA/ISO numbers are very nice as well; he’s only allowing .263/.122 to lefties and .312/.093 to righties.
Alex Gordon (KCR OF: $2,500 FD | $3,600 DK) – Crazy, right? But honestly, as a Royals fan, I can’t remember the last time Gordon was this consistent and he’s got a pretty decent matchup today. Over the last couple of weeks, Gordon has hit for .357 wOBA against righties, while Weaver has allowed .403 wOBA and .184 ISO to lefties. Gordon has a little bit of experience against him too, as he’s 3 for 3 with one home run and no strikeouts. Yes, it’s a small sample size, but it’s just another box to check in our quest to find some decent value bats today.
Like what you see here, but wish you could quickly find more batters in good spots like these ones are? I upload a list of every batter that meets the requirements I’m looking for, every single day, and today’s list has 26 batters on it. Everybody gets a few here, but our VIPs get the rest! That list also has a breakdown of the DraftKings Tiers slates.
Greg Allen (CLE OF: $2,300 FD | $3,500 DK) – Another solid value option, Allen has looked really good recently. He has a 5-game hitting streak going (8 hits in those five games) and has posted .377 wOBA against righties with a very nice 12.5% strikeout rate. He faces Covey who hasn’t been striking out many batters (12.6%) and is allowing .388 xwOBA to the left side of the plate. Not only is he quickly heating up, but he also offers cheap exposure to the 5.60 implied runs that the Indians have today.
Brock Holt (BOS 2B/SS: $2,300 FD | $3,900 DK) – Holt is similar to Allen in that he offers some cheap exposure to a high-powered offense in a good spot. Cobb carries a 6.91 carnage rating as well as 5.77 implied runs, and we know how the Red Sox offense has been. Holt bats second today with a 4-game hitting streak (6 hits), and has a pretty good shot at making it a 5-game streak today.
Marwin Gonzalez (HOU SS: $3,100 FD | $4,000 DK) – Most of the Houston bats are a little cold right now, but Gonzalez is one exception. He’s smashing righties for .561 wOBA and .250 ISO, and has plenty of fantasy production in August so far. He’ll face Erasmo Ramirez today who hasn’t pitched in the majors since April, and Gonzalez should be eager to help him shake off the cobwebs with a good hit or two.
And that’s going to do it for today! As always, be sure to check out the rest of our MLB content today, and be sure to catch up on some of our NFL articles as well.
