Hello everyone, and welcome back to the MLB cash academy at the DFS Army! I go by nillyJay in the DFS Army where I coach and contribute content for MLB, NASCAR, and all things cash games related (such as proper bankroll management and cash ladders).  You can find me on Twitter or in our Slack channels @nillyJay.

I hope you’ve all had a great week and are ready to hit the weekend with us!  It’s been business as usual here, and I look forward to having another great weekend with you guys.

Congrats guys!

The basics

Please refer to the original article here if you’re unfamiliar with any of the stats or terminology used in the notes below.  NEW! If you want to read more about my carnage rating system, you can do so here.

Cash players – 8/10/2018

Nathan Eovaldi (BOS P: $8,700 FD | $9,700 DK) – Eovaldi has settled in with his new team very well and looks to have another good matchup today to keep things rolling.  Vegas is giving him plenty of love with a -195 moneyline and 3.72 implied runs, both of which are among the best on the slate.  He also carries a 3.16 carnage rating and a combined wOBA of .232, which are again, among the best (they’re only behind Cole, and they aren’t that far behind).  Outside of Caleb Joseph, the O’s don’t have much success against him, and I don’t see him having much trouble returning plenty of value again today.

Zack Wheeler (NYM P: $9,400 FD | $10,100 DK) – Another solid option, Wheeler is just behind Eovaldi with a 3.26 carnage rating and a combined wOBA of .257.  He hasn’t had a bad game since mid-June and has averaged 6.77 strikeouts per game since then.  He’s faced Miami twice this year and handled them very well; he had 16 strikeouts, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and scores of 25.3 & 29.95 on DraftKings in those meetings.  If you aren’t comfortable paying up for Cole going against the Mariners, then this is a great place to go instead.

Logan Forsythe (MIN 2B/3B: $2,400 FD | $2,900 DK) – If you want to pay down at 2B today, Forsythe is a great way to go.  He’s averaged 8.14 on DraftKings over his last 7 games and has been hitting .479 wOBA against righties.  Zimmerman was doing well earlier in the season but has started to slip; he’s allowed .461 wOBA and .378 ISO to righties over his last 5 starts.  He also carries a hefty 6.49 carnage rating, which could mean big things for these Twins today.

Like what you see here, but wish you could quickly find more batters in good spots like these ones are?  I upload a list of every batter that meets the requirements I’m looking for, every single day, and today’s list has a whopping 58 batters on it.  Everybody gets a few here, but our VIPs get the rest!  That list also has a breakdown of the DraftKings Tiers slates.

Randal Grichuk (TOR OF: $3,100 FD | $3,800 DK) – Grichuk has been no stranger to the Cash Academy and finds himself here yet again today.  He’s hitting .486 wOBA and .294 ISO against lefties and has been producing very consistently (only two duds since mid-July).  Snell is not only fresh off the DL, but he’s supposedly on a pitch count too, which can only mean good things for the Blue Jays this evening.  You can take him solo or pair him up with Travis for a high-value two-man cash stack with lots of good value potential.

Giancarlo Stanton (NYY OF: $4,900 FD | $5,100 DK) – I really don’t have to say much here except “one of the strongest guys in the league has hit a home run in three straight games, and today he faces a guy he’s hit four off of already.”  He’s sure to be popular today, and while you could always fade him in tournaments, I would recommend just eating the chalk here for your cash games today and moving on.

It’s Friday!!

It might not be #FreebieFriday in the DFS Army today, but I still love giving out some freebies anyway.  We’ve been on fire with the DraftKings Tiers slates all year, and here’s part of our secret weapon:

Here’s what we have to work with in Tier 5 today.  As you can see, a lot of these guys are running pretty hot, but most are facing some stingy pitching.  For cash games we can quickly narrow things down to Freeman or Markakis, with the edge going to Markakis for his lower strikeout rate and higher ISO.  Quick and easy, just like it should be.  How do the other five tiers look?  If you’re a VIP member you can find out right here!

And that’s going to do it for today!  As always, be sure to check out the rest of our MLB content today, and be sure to catch up on some of our NFL articles as well.  Speaking of which, our prices have gone up since we’re getting into NFL season, but we’ve also changed things up a little.  Check out our new pricing structure and use promo code NILLY to get 10% off your monthly membership because you don’t want to miss all of the amazing content we have for NFL/NBA.  If you need a refresher, here’s a good one:
