This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Quick Trends (20 game sample)

  • First pick was a little all over the place today, but Betts took the lead int he end. With a staggering team total tonight plus being really good at baseball, I was not surprised.
  • Rounding out your first round picks included Carrasco, Grienke, Marte, Lindor, and Ramirez
  • Chalk: Betts Carrasco, Grienke, Marte, Lindor, Ramirez, Cruz, Blackmon, Arenado, Stanton, Haniger, and Polanco. Another 80% chalk slate and for good reason: Your core teams that are on fire continue to face bad pitchers.

Draft Projections & Rankings

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy

  • Pitching: There’s a solid 3 pitchers tonight and two more I’d consider in 3 mans depending on your risk adversity. That being said, there’s no scarcity in any position tonight so it comes down to counter-drafting theory. If you think people are leaving pitching to the end to grab exposure to high total games, go pitching. If you think pitching is going to be flat, go hitting.
  • Infield and outfield: There’s no scarcity tonight with great hitters in all spots. There’s no specific order needed other than to make sure you’re not filling up a single position before grabbing at least one in the other position.

Player spotlight: Everyday we high-light one player that went undrafted. Feeling contrarian tonight? Look no further than Matt Carpenter Trending wOBA, ISO, and hard contact facing a solid pitcher.
