Hey all! Originally I wasn’t on schedule to write tonight, but I’m in the car and have some time. It won’t be as detailed as normal since I am writing all from my phone, but will still have my favorite plays for the Main Slate tonight!
Main Slate
Max Scherzer vs MIA
The chalk of this main slate will be Scherzer and rightfully so. He has been amazing all season and has a very good matchup against the Marlins tonight. Scherzer comes into this start with an amazing 36.9% strikeout rate and the lowly Marlins have a 33% strikeout rate over 102 at-bats against him. Along with an impressive strikeout rate, Mad Max also has one of the leagues best SIERA’s at 2.46. He can easily string together a 40 point fanduel point game tonight and has done so in 15 of his 20 starts this year, with multiple in the 50’s and higher. He’s the top option on this main slate tonight.
Robbie Ray vs SD
Ray has had 1 good and 1 bad start since coming off the DL. This start is a bit easier than the Cardinals though. The Padres aren’t striking out a whole lot against LHP of late, but Ray has elite strikeout stuff. Even though he got hurt, he still has shown a 34% strikeout rate this year. His walk’s are concerning, but they always have been. Ray has always been hit fairly hard, but has just a 3.33 SIERA which is not horrible. His home numbers don’t look amazing, but the humidor being placed in has helped pitchers a lot here this year. The Padres roster has a .235 average against him in their career with a 35% strikeout rate. On such a small slate, Ray is still risky, but has upside.
David Price @ KC
Chris Sale just destroyed this lineup last night, did the Royals have been brutal of late, especially against LHP. They have the 4th higher K% at 29% and have a very low wOBA at .257 and a wRC+ of 58. Price seems like he can pitch well against every team except the Yankees this season. Besides his starts vs New York, he has 10 starts with more than 30 fanduel points. He is a nice price tonight and I like the matchup for him more than Stripling who is more expensive. Pitching in Kansas City is easier than Fenway and that should benefit Price tonight against the Royals. The Sox offense is rolling right now and they should have no problem getting Price the win. If he pitches well anyways. I like the matchup though.
Tyson Ross @ ARI
We need some options tonight on this small slate, and I don’t mind using pitchers in the same game, especially on fanduel with just 1 pitcher needed. Ross has very gohod BvP against the Diamondbacks and has shown us upside this year. In one other start against them he went 7.2 innings with 10 strikeouts, good for 54 fanduel points. In 115 at-bats, they have just a .174 average and a 33% strikeout rate. Arizona has been pretty average in advanced stats across the board, but I don’t mind using some Ross tonight. Ross has come back to form from his Padres days and isn’t the best pitcher to always stack against that he was like with the Rangers. I like me some Ross for GPPs tonight.
