Hello everyone, and welcome back to the MLB cash academy at the DFS Army! I go by nillyJay in the DFS Army where I coach and contribute content for MLB, NASCAR, and all things cash games related (such as proper bankroll management and cash ladders). You can find me on Twitter or in our Slack channels @nillyJay.
And wouldn’t you know it, we had yet ANOTHER round of big winners at the DFS Army yesterday. First, a big congratulations to long-time member oysterdood and his $100,000 PGA win:
Next, another big congrats to CBombM11 and his $15,000 win in last night’s NL Showdown slate:

Great job guys! Those of you on the outside, well…you’re really missing out!

Cash players – 7/30/2018
Kenta Maeda (LAD P: $9,100 FD | $10,100 DK) – Another slate with some not-so-great pitching options, Maeda looks to be one of the better choices. He starts off with some decent love from Vegas (-158 moneyline and 3.32 implied runs), and has one of the best carnage ratings (1.97) and KSCOREs (558) on the slate. His recent combined .253 wOBA is also very nice, and he’s had 43 strikeouts in his last 5 starts. Finally, the Brewers have very little experience against him, and he looks to be getting into a nice groove.
Gerrit Cole (HOU P: $11,000 FD | $12,800 DK) – If you want to pay up for some pitching, Cole makes a good option. Vegas likes this game to be a low-scoring affair (currently a 7 over/under), with only 3.44 implied runs showing on Cole’s side. His recent form has been great with no less than 7 strikeouts in any of his last 4 starts and a combined .281 wOBA, and he scored 46 FD / 25.55 DK when he faced them in April. If you want to go the cheaper route, Paxton makes a good option too (similar scoring the last two times he faced Houston).
Melky Cabrera (CLE OF: $2,200 FD | $3,800 DK) – Pretty much everybody from the Indians is in play today, but I’ll give the nod to Melky since he’s a “triple threat” option. He’s seen Santana plenty (16 for 46 with two home runs and only 5 strikeouts), he’s running hot (.389 wOBA against righties and a low 8.7% strikeout rate), and Santana has been getting hit plenty (allowing .378 wOBA and .534 xwOBA to the left side of the plate). You could grab almost anybody else for a two-man cash stack, but the best options are Lindor, Alonso, or Ramirez.
Robbie Grossman (MIN OF: $2,600 FD | $3,600 DK) – On the other side of that game we have several Twins that are in good spots, too. Bieber is getting hammered by lefties (.505 wOBA and .368 ISO), and there are plenty of them to choose from here. Grossman makes a good candidate with his .366 wOBA against righties, along with the fact that he’s had good fantasy production in 16 of his last 18 games. Mauer, Polanco, Kepler, Morrison, or Rosario all make good options to pair with him for a two-man cash stack.
Chris Owings (ARI OF: $2,300 FD | $3,600 DK) – Most of the Diamondbacks are priced up today, but Owings isn’t. Lucky for us, he’s also hitting very well, posting up .377 wOBA against lefties while only striking out 16.67% of the time. Perez has an even lower strikeout rate (15.6%) and has the worst carnage rating on the slate today at 7.68. This is a great way to get cheap exposure to the 5.10 implied runs that Vegas has given Arizona.
Brandon Crawford (SFG SS: $2,900 FD | $3,800 DK) – Crawford has been a solid option pretty much all season and finds himself in another good matchup today. He’s hitting .398 xwOBA against lefties and has fantasy production in all but a handful of games since early June. Lauer has been getting hit around plenty and is allowing .519 wOBA and .321 ISO to lefties, and is only striking out 18.8% of his batters. I don’t think the Giants are running hot enough to warrant any sort of stacking in cash, but I like Crawford as a one-off today.
Like what you see here, but wish you could quickly find more batters in good spots like these ones are? I upload a list of every batter that meets the requirements I’m looking for, every single day, and today’s list has a 44 batters on it. Everybody gets 4 here, but our VIPs get the rest! That list also has a breakdown of every tier for the DraftKings Tiers slates.
And that’s going to do it for today! Be sure to check out the rest of our MLB content today, and keep in mind that NFL season is fast approaching. Of course, with that comes an increase in our monthly rates, so now is a great time to get on board so you don’t have to pay the higher prices later. Maybe you’ll be our next big winner! Just remember to use promo code NILLY to get that 10% discount for the life of your active membership. Until then, good luck today, and I’ll see you all again on Friday!
