Cash players – 7/29/2018
Lance McCullers (HOU P: $10,100 FD | $10,200 DK) – I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of pitching on this slate. Kluber is struggling, we have a lot of weak cheaper options, and even McCullers here has had a few setbacks recently. However, he’s got one of the better matchups today, so I’m siding with Vegas and their -238 moneyline / 3.24 implied runs. The biggest threat here would have been Andrus, and he’s not in the lineup today. He’s had plenty of success against the rest of this Texas lineup, and I like his floor the best out of everybody today.
Yuli Gurriel (HOU 1B: $2,600 FD | $3,800 DK) – Yuli gets a familiar matchup today; he’s 6 for 10 with 3 extra-base hits and 2 home runs against Minor who is also giving up .407 wOBA and .323 ISO to righties. The Astros have a healthy 5.26 implied runs as well, so this looks to be a good place for Yuli to get some more magic going.
Blake Swihart (BOS C: $2,300 FD | $2,900 DK) – Blake seems to produce plenty when he starts, and he gets to today against Berrios and his .342 xwOBA to the left side of the plate. Blake is hitting for .534 wOBA and .375 ISO while only striking out 16.67% of the time over the last couple of weeks. Did I mention he’s had solid fantasy production in 9 straight games? That’s plenty to love from a sub-$3k player!
Lourdes Gurriel (TOR SS: $2,800 FD | $3,700 DK) – Lourdes has been very hot this month, and if you haven’t been using him yet, now would be a good time before his price skyrockets. He’s had double-digit fantasy scoring in many games since June 21st and is smashing lefties for a ridiculous .996 wOBA and 1.333 ISO. Rodon has a tough matchup today against these Blue Jays who are starting to heat up, and it all starts with Lourdes.
Carlos Gonzalez (COL OF: $3,400 FD | $5,500 DK) – Gonzalez can be a little streaky at times, so now is a great time to have him; he’s hitting righties for .378 wOBA and .300 ISO, and has put up double-digit fantasy scoring in 4 straight games. Montas is plenty soft, allowing .473 wOBA and .355 ISO to lefties while only striking out 15.9% of his batters. The Rockies look to be in a great spot to do some damage today, and taking their cleanup batter is a good way to get right in the middle of the action.
