Hello everyone, and welcome back to the MLB cash academy at the DFS Army! I go by nillyJay in the DFS Army where I coach and contribute content for MLB, NASCAR, and all things cash games related (such as proper bankroll management and cash ladders). You can find me on Twitter or in our Slack channels @nillyJay.
I hope you’ve all had a great and profitable week so far and are ready to kick off the weekend with this massive 15-game slate. As for us, it’s been business as usual around here;
The basics

Cash players – 7/27/2018
Chris Sale (BOS P: $12,800 FD | $13,500 DK) – To nobody’s surprise we once again start off with Sale, and for very good reason. He’s been leaving every other pitcher in the dust and finds himself in yet another great matchup to continue his dominance. His -363 moneyline and 2.68 implied runs are par for the course for his recent form, and his 2.63 carnage rating, combined .184 wOBA, and 672 KSCORE cement him as the anchor to a lot of cash lineups tonight. Feel free to get creative in your tournaments, but for cash, there’s no reason to get cute here. Yes, he’s expensive, but there’s plenty of value to be found on a 15-game slate.
Zack Greinke (ARI P: $11,000 FD | $10,700 DK) – If for some reason you don’t want to pay up for Sale (or if you want to load up on pitching), Greinke makes a solid option. He’s been very good lately and hasn’t given up more than 2 runs in a game since the middle of June. His 2.56 carnage rating is slightly better than Sale’s, and his combined .226 wOBA and 521 KSCORE are right up there at the top. Vegas is showing him plenty of love (-175 moneyline and 3.21 implied runs), and I see no reason why he can’t have another good game today.
David Fletcher (LAA 3B: $3,000 FD | $2,700 DK) – Since we’re looking for value, let’s start off our batters with a fine choice. Fletcher has a 6-game hitting streak going (12 hits in those 6 games, mind you), 4 of which had double-digit fantasy scoring. His strikeout rate is also very low (9.52%), and he’s been hitting lefties for .384 xwOBA. He gets a decent platoon matchup tonight, and while LeBlanc hasn’t necessarily been getting blown up, Fletcher will have plenty of opportunities to continue his streak today. He doesn’t have to do much for his price (especially on DraftKings), but I think he’ll surpass value.
Neil Walker (NYY 1B/2B: $2,500 FD | $3,700 DK) – The Yankees have 6+ implied runs tonight (even without Judge), so you’ll be sure to want a piece of that lineup for cash tonight. If you’re on a budget, Walker makes a good option with his .413 wOBA against righties and a 7-game streak of solid fantasy production (4 of those games were double-digit, and a 5th just barely missed the mark). Keller did well in his last start, but he’s still giving up .368 wOBA (.405 xwOBA) to the left side of the plate and is only striking out 14.4% of his batters over his last 5 starts.
Nick Williams (PHI OF: $2,700 FD | $3,900 DK) – I really like the Phillies tonight, and you choose from several of them in cash tonight. I’ll start with Williams though, as he’s been the most consistent. To begin, he’s been crushing righties recently (.508 wOBA and .304 ISO against them) and is only striking out 15% of the time. DeSclafani has been as soft as they come, giving up .427 wOBA and .471 ISO to lefties. The icing on the cake here is the fact that Williams has fantasy production in 31 of his last 35 games, and only 8 of them were “low scoring” (less than 5 points on DraftKings). He makes a great one-off or you could pair him with either Rhys, Santana, or Franco for a two-man cash stack.
Freebie Friday!
It’s Friday, so you know what that means…some more freebies at the DFS Army! You know I like my Tiers, so I’ll start there:
This is what T4 looks like today. For VIP members, the rest can be found here!
Next up, a small preview of my classic batters list that I put up every day (same link as above). This shows batters in matchups that I like in cash; batters that are doing well going up against pitchers that are not (in their hand vs hand matchup). This shows more recent matchups so we can find when batters/pitchers are running hot, cold, or trending one way or another. This can be used for both cash games and tournament purposes alike. Today’s list has a whopping 56 batters on it, and I’ll share 14 of them in here (not counting Walker since I already listed him above):
And that’s going to do it for today! Be sure to check out the rest of our MLB content today, and since it’s Freebie Friday, don’t forget to take a test drive with the research station to see some more of the goodies we have access to every single day. We have plenty of other goodies on the way too, including two NASCAR races this weekend that I’ll be covering, so stay tuned for my free article for tomorrow’s Xfinity race at Iowa.
Also, don’t forget that NFL season is fast approaching, and with that comes an increase in our monthly rates. Now is a great time to get on board so you don’t have to pay the higher prices later, but remember to use promo code NILLY to get that 10% discount and make it even cheaper. Until then, good luck today!
