Hello everyone, and welcome back to the MLB cash academy at the DFS Army!  I go by nillyJay in the DFS Army where I coach and contribute content for MLB, NASCAR, and all things cash games related (such as proper bankroll management and cash ladders).  You can find me on Twitter or in our Slack channels @nillyJay.

The basics

Please refer to the original article here if you’re unfamiliar with any of the stats or terminology used in the notes below.

Yesterday’s results

Chris Sale: 55 FD | 33.7 DK
Mallex Smith: 15.7 FD | 12 DK
Xander Bogaerts: 18.4 FD | 14 DK
Mitch Garver: 0 FD | 0 DK
Aledmys Diaz: 0 FD | 0 DK
Starlin Castro: 0 FD | 0 DK

Top half looked pretty good, too bad about those duds.
Only one strikeout between them though, so at least they were making contact.

Some of our MLB and PGA winners from yesterday.  Just another day in the DFS Army!

Cash players – 7/23/2018

Luis Severino (NYY P: $11,400 FD | $13,200 DK) – We have some aces on the mound tonight, and Severino is my first choice for cash games.  Kluber has a much tougher matchup and hasn’t been his usual dominant self lately, so I’d prefer the easier route.  His -279 moneyline and 2.68 implied runs are the best on the slate, and nobody on the Rays’ roster tonight has had any real success against him (no weather concerns here, either).  He’s faced them twice this year and had 16 strikeouts over 15 innings, and I see no reason why I can’t make it three in a row today.

Avisail Garcia (CWS OF: $3,200 FD | $4,300 DK) – Garcia has been tearing up right-handed pitchers lately (.511 wOBA and 1.000 ISO since the week before the All-Star break), while his opponent (Barria) has been getting smashed by righties (.503 wOBA and .289 ISO in his last 5 starts).  Yesterday’s dud was one of only two since April 21st, so I have no doubt that he’ll bounce back today.

Yandy Diaz (CLE 3B: $2,900 FD | $3,700 DK) – The sample size is a bit small for Diaz, but his numbers certainly aren’t; he’s hit for .880 wOBA against righties, and the soft-throwing Williams is allowing .496 wOBA and .370 ISO to righties over his last 5 starts.  Diaz has only one strikeout in his 11 at-bats and is hitting cleanup for Cleveland’s 5.39 implied runs for a very nice price.  He’ll eventually regress, but we may as well ride the hot train while it lasts!

Whit Merrifield (KCR 2B: $3,600 FD | $4,700 DK) – Whit has been on fire this year, and finds himself in another great matchup today.  He’s had 30 hits in his last 19 games and has been hitting lefties for .612 wOBA over the last couple of weeks.  Liriano has been giving up .417 wOBA and .200 ISO to righties and has only been striking out 18.2% of his batters.  I do like him better on FanDuel for the reduced price, but if you can’t afford him on classic DraftKings, he makes a great option in T5 Tiers (Pick’Em) instead.  He’s my double-digit scoring call of the day!

Chad Pinder (OAK OF/2B: $2,500 FD | $4,200 DK) – Triple threat alert!  Pinder marks all the boxes today; .401 wOBA and .375 ISO against lefties, Hamels is giving up .427 wOBA and .247 ISO to righties, and the BvP matchup here is outstanding (7 for 8 with 3 home runs).  Can we keep going?  Sure!  He’s got a 6-game hitting/fantasy producing streak going and hits second tonight for the visiting team.  This game could get very ugly for Hamels, so feel free to take pretty much any other Oakland batter tonight along with Pinder for a two-man cash stack.

Joe Mauer (MIN 1B: $3,000 FD | $4,100 DK) – Mauer has been on a roll all of July, and gets another good matchup today to keep it going (he’s hitting for .457 wOBA and .158 ISO against righties over the last few weeks). He’ll face Santos first today, who is allowing .426 wOBA and .273 ISO to righties.  He may not last very long as the starter, but I have no doubt that whoever Toronto throws at Mauer, he’ll be just fine.

Like what you see here, but wish you could quickly find more batters in good spots like these ones are?  I upload a list of every batter that meets the requirements I’m looking for, every single day, and today’s list has a whopping 75 batters on it.  Everybody gets 4 here, but our VIPs get the rest!

And that’s going to do it today!  Be sure to check out the rest of our MLB content that’s already out today, and keep an eye out for our WNBA article tomorrow for that 4-game slate.

Also, don’t forget that we have an opening for an NFL writer, so if you think you’ve got what it takes, be sure to apply!  You may also want to keep in mind that once NFL rolls around, our monthly rates go up as well.  Now is a great time to get on board so you don’t have to pay the higher prices later, but remember to use promo code NILLY to get that 10% discount and make it even cheaper.  Until then, good luck today!
