Cash players – 7/22/2018

Chris Sale (BOS P: $12,500 FD | $13,400 DK) – Sale has been on a roll lately, and you’d have to go back to June 13th to find a game where he scored any less than 30 fantasy points on DraftKings (or didn’t reach 10 strikeouts).  Vegas absolutely loves him (-342 moneyline, 2.59 implied runs), and it’s not surprising that he has the best statline on the slate; 2.18 carnage rating, combined .197 wOBA, and a 736 KSCORE.  Those are video game numbers, and there’s no reason not to anchor our cash lineups with him today.

Mallex Smith (TBR OF: $2,800 FD | $4,200 DK) – Smith enters today’s game with a 4-game hitting streak (8 hits in those 4 games), as well as some nice reverse split numbers; he’s hitting .496 wOBA and .263 ISO against righties (while only striking out 16.67% of the time).  He faces a soft righty in Richards, who is giving up .433 wOBA and .205 ISO to righties.  I like him better on FanDuel with his cheaper price, but he’s a solid play either way.

Xander Bogaerts (BOS SS: $4,200 FD | $5,100 DK) – It’s another 5+ implied runs day for Boston, and several of them find themselves in a good spot today.  It looks to be a bullpen game, and since Xander is hitting well against both righties (.444 wOBA) and lefties (.441 xwOBA), he’ll be good to go no matter who they use against him.  He’s also only striking out 12.24% of the time recently, which raises his floor even more.

Mitch Garver (MIN C: $2,300 FD | $3,600 DK) – Garver tends to produce when he gets the start (as he looks to today), and he’ll have a nice matchup with Keller who has been getting smashed by everybody lately.  Garver’s .491 wOBA and .556 ISO (against righties) are very nice for his price, as is his low 14% strikeout rate.  I think my Royals are in store for a rough game today, and you could pair one of the lefties with Garver (Mauer, Cave, Kepler, or Grossman) for a two-man cash stack.

Aledmys Diaz (TOR SS: $2,500 FD | $3,900 DK) – While I do wish he were hitting closer to the top of the order, Diaz has been producing just fine, so it’s hard to pass him up in another good spot.  He’s hitting .486 wOBA and .294 ISO against righties and only striking out 12.86% of the time, while Cashner is only striking out 16.8% of his batters.   He’s 3 for 8 against Cashner, and while that’s not a huge sample size, it’s at least enough to know he can see the ball well and is familiar with this matchup.

Starlin Castro (MIA 2B: $3,300 FD | $3,700 DK) – Starlin is hitting decently (.356 xWOBA against righties and a 12.04% strikeout rate), and Archer allowing about the same (.349 wOBA to righties).  The main draw here, though, is the fact that Starlin is 8 for 20 with a home run against Archer.  Combine that with his 5 hits in the last 3 games, and that tells me we have a good batter that’s heating up going up against a pitcher he has a lot of success against.

Another big win for one of our VIPs yesterday!

And that’s going to do it today!  Be sure to check out the rest of our MLB content, as well as our NASCAR stuff for the race today.  Remember that NFL season is approaching quickly, and with that comes higher rates.  Our members pay whatever rates they signed up with, so now is a great time to join up so you can’t keep the lower price during our busy and very profitable NFL/NBA seasons.  Just remember to use promo code NILLY for 10% off for the life of your active membership.  Until then, good luck today!
