This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.
Quick Trends (20 game sample)
- In a some what surprising move, Verlander was your #1 pick 75% of the time. It’s not who I went with as personally I think pitching will be flatter than the field expected.
- Rounding out your first round picks are Betts, Bauer, and Arenado. Again a little confused on pitching going first round with so many options, but the batters are on point.
- Chalk-o-the-day: Verlander, Betts, Bauer, Arenado, Martinez, Judge, Lindor, Ramierez, Goldschmidt, Pollock, and Benintendi. 73% of the teams on a huge 15 game slate tonight are chalk leaving only 4 players being different tonight on average.

Draft Projections & Rankings
The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy
- If you’ve read my articles before, you know my thoughts on pitching already. In general, pitching is flat on Draft. Meaning, a pitcher is going to need to have an extra ordinary performance to make a huge difference points wise. use last night as an example:
- Cole (Slate chalk and #1 pick): 17 points
- Kershaw (often picked in the first round): 15 points
- Berrios (left for dead last): 18 points (8 SO, 7 IP, 1 ER, and the win)
- I took Martinez first pick instead, who came in at 23 points. The moral of the story here is that hitters are where all the points are coming from on Draft. With HR’s being worth 10 points and pitchers having a possibility of getting a negative number, I recommend leaving pitchers until the last pick often. I break this rule when there are less than 3 pitching options or there is a significant drop off from the top pitcher to the rest.
- There are three hitters I’m targeting specifically tonight we’ll talk more about in Slack with our VIPs. There’s some power layers outside the chalk tonight that you should give some consideration to.
I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
