This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Quick Trends (20 game sample)

  • First pick today is a slugger with great upside, but not my first choice personally. Goldschmidt rang supreme with 80% of the drafts going with him in the first slot.
  • Rounding out your first round picks: Betts, Martinez, Freeman
  • Chalk talk: Betts, Martinez, Goldschmidt, Martinez, Lindor, Freeman, Pollock, Cole, and Hoskins. 60% chalk today is a little surprising with a 9 game slate.

Draft Projections & Rankings

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy

  • Pitching: In my opinion, there are at least three solid pitching options tonight. I don’t see a need to grab one earlier than last pick, but I can see merit in doing so.
  • Infield: There is no scarcity here today.  You’ll be able to mix up your order with pitching and grab one earlier than last round and still have a solid Tier 1 option left. I’ve identified at least 9 solid options to go with in Tier 1 tonight that we’ll cover in slack chat.
  • Outfield: Biggest discrepancy in available players batting in the top of the order today. There’s enough to go around, but you’ll be going off reservation today targeting some games with lower team totals hoping for a solo home run
  • Tonight’s tip: Avoid triple stacking an offense tonight. Yes Boston, Arizona, and Cleveland are in great spots, but any team can put up a donut tonight. Having 75% of your hitting exposure to one offense is usually never a great idea on draft.
