Hello everyone, and welcome back to the MLB cash academy! I go by nillyJay in the DFS Army where I coach and contribute content for MLB, NASCAR, and all things cash games related (such as proper bankroll management and cash ladders). You can find me on Twitter or in our Slack channels @nillyJay.
The purpose of these articles is to show an easy way to identify players to use MLB cash game lineups. While I do provide some player names, the idea is to show what I’m looking for so that you can use some of that same thinking to help aid your research for building lineups.
The basics

Nothing overly spectacular, but mostly serviceable for cash games. On to today!
Cash players – 6/24/2018
Chris Sale ($11,300 FD, $13,400 DK) – Surprise, surprise…it’s Chris Sale! All kidding aside, he’s among the best in the game and comes into today’s game with a very low .217 wOBA, .052 ISO, 34% strikeout rate, and a 2.67 carnage rating. Aside from Cruz, nobody on the Mariners has had much success against him, and Vegas likes him to do well today too (-206 moneyline and 3.21 implied total for Seattle). Not much else needs to be said here for the best arm on the slate.
Domingo German ($8,500 FD, $9,500 DK) – German is pitching very well lately, putting up massive fantasy scores and only allowing .279 wOBA with a 30.10% strikeout rate. His 2.32 carnage rating is actually a little bit better than Sale’s, and we know those Rays’ bats are fairly cold right now. He’s sure to keep rising in price, so this is a good time to get him at a discount while we still can.
Jace Peterson ($2,500 FD, $3,100 DK) – Let’s start this off with a solid value bat: Peterson has been on a tear lately, hitting for .728 wOBA and 1.00 ISO against righties over the last 10 days. He’s also only struck out 12.5% of the time, and has fantasy production in his last 8 starts. McCarthy, while favored to win, has been giving up .471 wOBA and .367 ISO to lefties and is only striking out 19.5% of the batters he’s facing. This is a great place to get some salary relief for the expensive Chris Sale.
David Peralta ($3,400 FD, $4,800 DK) – You know what I like? Hitting streaks, and Peralta has had hits in 17 of his last 20 games. He’s also carried a solid .377 wOBA and .318 ISO against righties over his last 10 games. He faces Williams today, somebody he has 3 hits against (in 7 at-bats) and who is giving up .443 wOBA and .258 ISO to lefties. I like him a bit more on FanDuel with his cheaper price, but he’s solid on either site. Jon Jay or Daniel Descalso make good candidates to pair up with him for a two-man cash stack.
Eddie Rosario ($3,330 FD, $5,200 DK) – Another underpriced FanDuel option, Rosario has been crushing righties to the tune of .627 wOBA and .643 ISO lately, while Colon has been hit for a massive .578 wOBA and .419 ISO. The Twins have a 5.18 implied run total, so we definitely want a piece of it in cash. This is a good place to do just that.
Hernan Perez ($2,500 FD, $3,300 DK) – Perez offers some more salary relief, but it doesn’t come at the cost of reduced performance. His .496 wOBA and .375 ISO against righties is as solid as can be, and Weaver has started to become a little soft to righties with a .343 wOBA and a fairly low 18.3% strikeout rate. Perez offers cheap exposure to 4.51 implied runs, and can be paired with somebody like Thames if you want a bigger piece of the pie.
Javier Baez ($4,100 FD, $4,500 DK) – Another game with a high implied total (5.04), this game looks to have lots of fantasy goodness as well. Baez leads the way for the Cubs with his .630 wOBA and .385 ISO, and his 9.52% strikeout rate gives us a nice floor to go along with his high ceiling. Romano is starting to get hit around more and more, with an xWOBA of .398 and ISO of .313 to righties. You can pair Baez with almost anybody else here, but most notably Heyward, Russell, Almora, Schwarber, or Happ. Take your pick of any two of them, as they’re all doing well and/or have solid BvP against Romano.
That’s going to be all for today! As always, be sure to check out the rest of our MLB content right here.
