nillyJay's MLB Cash Academy for Fanduel and Draftkings DFS 6/22/2018

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the MLB cash academy!  I go by nillyJay in the DFS Army where I coach and contribute content for MLB, NASCAR, and all things cash games related (such as proper bankroll management and cash ladders).  You can find me on Twitter or in our Slack channels @nillyJay.  The purpose of these articles is to show an easy way to identify players to use MLB cash game lineups.  While I do provide some player names, the idea is to show what I’m looking for so that you can use some of that same thinking to help aid your research for building lineups.

We had another hot week in the DFS Army!  Just take a look at some of our winners:

From MLB to NASCAR to MMA and soccer, cash and tournaments alike, we’re enjoying success all over the place.  NFL season is fast approaching, which means our monthly rate will also increase, so if you’re on the fence this would be a great time to join up!  Your monthly rate will never increase so long as you keep your membership active, even when the standard rate goes up.  Remember that today is Freebie Friday, which means most of our VIP content is available for free to test drive, so come check out some of what makes us tick!

Cash players – 6/22/2018

I won’t lie, this isn’t the easiest slate for cash, at least as far as pitching is concerned.  While there aren’t any aces on the mound today, we can still find some pitchers in decent spots to anchor our cash lineups.

CC Sabathia ($7,500 FD, $8,900 DK) – Sabathia faced the Rays on Sunday and racked up 10 strikeouts (while giving up 10 hits) on his way to a 48 FD / 24.05 DK performance.  He gets a park upgrade today and comes into this game with a solid .270 wOBA, .092 ISO, and 3.69 carnage rating.  The Rays have been struggling lately, scoring well below the league average in runs, hits, home runs, and walks, while also striking out 29.86% of the time (second worst in the league).  This looks to be another good spot for Sabathia, and if he can limit how many hits he gives up, he could see a pretty nice score today.

Chris Stratton ($7,200 FD, $7,300 DK) – Sometimes we get a slate where a good approach is to just pick on the teams that are performing poorly, and this is another situation where that could work for us.  Stratton has held batters to .249 wOBA and .049 ISO over his last handful of starts and has a very nice 3.24 carnage rating today against a Padres team that is struggling in every category.  They’re even striking out the most, at a rate of 31.22%  On a slate without many good pitching options, this is another one that we can feel good about.

Nolan Arenado ($5,100 FD, $5,900 DK) – Nolan is running hot right now and has three straight games with big fantasy scores.  He loves facing lefties and gets a soft one today at home; Chen’s .407 wOBA and .188 ISO helps give Nolan a very high 98.71 DFS grade, which is backed by his ridiculous .809 wOBA and 1.143 ISO over the last 7 days.  He’s expensive and should be the chalk of the night, but since we don’t have any top-tier pitchers to pay for, we can afford him.  I don’t like using the “L” word, but he’s basically a cash lock tonight.

Jurickson Profar ($3,700 FD, $4,200 DK) – It doesn’t seem like Profar knows how to cool off this year, and even if he does, I don’t think today is the day that he finally does.  He has scored fantasy points in all but 13 games this season and I would be surprised if doesn’t keep that going today.  His recent .415 wOBA / .292 ISO against righties matches up well against Romero and his .547 wOBA / .472 ISO to lefties, and the 3.7% / 16.4% strikeout rates in this matchup are about as good as you’ll ever see.  If you want to run another Ranger along with him, Mazara makes a fine choice and offers similar numbers to Profar.

Carlos Santana ($3,400 FD, $3,800 DK) – Less expensive batters (that are also running hot) help make guys like Arenado work.  Enter Santana, who has posted a .407 wOBA and .158 ISO lately (against righties) while only striking out 11.11% of the time.  He faces Roark who has been giving up .389 wOBA and .212 ISO to the left side of the plate.  Add in the fact that Santana has scored FD/DK points in 16 of his last 17 games (only three of them with minimum production), and we have ourselves another steady source of fantasy goodness.

Javier Baez ($3,900 FD, $4,700 DK) – If you missed his hot streak last month, don’t worry, because he’s at the start of another one right now.  His recent .630 wOBA / .385 ISO against righties matches up very well against Castillo and his .383 wOBA / .394 ISO against righties.  Baez has only been striking out 9.09% of the time, which is among the best on the slate.  He makes a solid cash option, and if they play, either Almora Jr or Russel make a good choice to pair him up with, as they’ve been running hot against righties too.

Miguel Rojas ($3,200 FD, $3,400 DK) – Here’s a little Friday nugget for you guys!  If you want cheap exposure to Coors, Rojas is your guy.  He’s got some reverse splits going with .562 wOBA against righties (he also hasn’t struck out once in a little over a week), while Gray has given up .378 wOBA and .172 ISO recently.  I always like a good value play, and Rojas offers enough for us with his price tag.

That’ll do it for today!  Like I mentioned earlier, today is Freebie Friday at the DFS Army so come on over and check out some of our VIP-only content like the research station and some of our other MLB articles today.  Don’t forget that we have an MMA card that locks in the early hours of Saturday morning, so if you want to get in on that action with us, you can do so here.  And as always, if you like what you’re seeing here and want to join up with us to get all of our content (including 24/7 Slack chat access) all of the time, remember to use promo code NILLY to get 10% off for the life of your active membership.  Good luck today!
