This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Quick Trends (20 game sample)

  • If you guessed anyone else besides Verlander, I’m guessing you haven’t looked at tonight’s slate. It’s ugly on the mound with more pick’ems than I’ve ever seen on a Monday. There are good pitchers tonight, they just happen to either be going against hit bats or in the rain. 20/20 drafts went with Verlander in the #1 hole.
  • Rounding out your first round picks we saw Bellinger, Judge, Cruz, Machado, Snell, Renfoe, and Ramierez. All over the place. Seemed like without our normal staple of names, people didn’t know which direction to go.
  • Your chalk of the day: Verlander, Bellinger, Cruz, Ramierez, Goldschmidt, and Pederson. An all time low of 30% chalk, people are going all different directions this slate.

Draft Projections & Rankings

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy

  • Outfield is scarce today. If you’re not picking first, I’d hammer that position closed s quickly as possible. Conversely, in field has a lot of options to go with in a number of games. any outfielders are designated DH on Draft, pushing more of them into the infield slot.
  • Pitching can go last after Verlander. They’re all kind of a toss up with similar Vegas support and K ratings.

I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
