This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.
Quick Trends (20 game sample)
- With so many different directions to go and a deep well of pitching tonight, it didn’t stop Sherzer from being the #1 drafted guy.
- First rounds was filled up with Martinez, Benintendi, Kluber, and Trout.
- 100% list: Sherzer, Kluber,Martinez, Benintendi, Trout, Davis, Harper, Blackmon, and Stanton.
- BOS and OAK were drafted the most tonight with NYY being forgotten. I’m guessing some recency bias from Judge’s performance and the poor showing in the second game has something to do with it. My #DongCall is Stanton though for sure.
Draft Projections & Rankings
The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy
- We have a lot of pitching options tonight. It’s not necessary to reach for Scherzer (Assuming the game isn’t PPD), but I won’t fault you for doing it. He is projected well in our model and should hit 17 points tonight. There are as many gas cans as elite options tonight opening up a lot of directions you can go with hitters warranting a reach in pitching in the 2nd or 3rd round.
- OAK is highly projected in Draft today, but there are other teams to attack here as well. BOS, NYY, MIN, TEX, and LAA are in great spots too. No tto mention there are plenty of hitters that are in great one off situations regardless of their team totals. I’m looking at you Kris Bryant.
- Outfield has the most scarcity since players are marked as DH on Draft, forcing them into the Infield slot. I would recommend focusing on grabbing those higher end guys first.
- CHC is sneaky today with Bryant and Rizzo ranking high on our model. If you’re digging for value I would look to these guys tonight.
