This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.
Quick Trends (20 game sample)
- With Coors going ham every night this week and another perfect weather day, Arenado was the #1 overall pick 75% of the time. He was followed by Trout 20% of the time and a wild Morton one time. That particular draft was kind of an anomaly though.
- 90% of the drafts faded the NYY game. There’s a heated discussion going on in Slack all morning on whether or not they actually play. Our weather expert says if it’s a go it’ll be a late PPD. Personally with Draft, if it does get PPD, you’ll get the option to swap. With the game starting at 1:05 PM and 14 more games behind it, I think you’re safe to grab a flier or two if you really want.
- 100% drafts: Arenado, Blackmon, Turner. Bellinger, Trout, Lamb, Lester, Castillo
Draft Projections & Rankings
The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy
- Unless you’re a Morton truthsayer today, and a lot of the sharps are, you can go ahead and grab a pitcher a little earlier than usual. I’m leaning more towards Lester and Castillo myself for a safer floor since BOS can come awake at anytime.
- There is no scarcity in bats today as the whole COL and LAD rosters are getting eaten up. Speaking about those teams, don’t sleep on Story today like most of my competition did. His last 7 days wOBA and ISO have combined for 1.123 which is staggering. Generally we’re targeting anyone over .6 at a minimum with .8 being good.
- There are sneaky plays at both infield and outfield we’ll talk about in Slack this morning making it an even strike to grab those top studs as you please.
I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
