This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Quick Trends (20 game sample)

  • Trout went #1 overall in 18/20 contests today. I don’t need to post his numbers from our research station because he’s Trout. You know what he does and what’s been about this year.
  • The next draft spots raise an eyebrow though; Judge, Blackmon, Cole, Carrasco, Castellanos, Gardner, Harper, Sanchez, and Areando round out the list of first round picks. rarely does that list go beyond 4 more people. It goes to show how many different directions you can go with bats tonight.
  • 100% list: Trout, Arenado, Blackmon, Judge, Harper, and Turner. That’s it. 40% today is locked up in all line ups, which is way below what we’ve seen this year

Draft Projections & Rankings

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy

  • Fade Strasburg. He’s historically struggled in muggy conditions and the dew point is 70+ in ATL today. There are a lot of pitching options to go with tonight.
  • Speaking of pitching, there are 4 very viable pitchers available besides Strasburg tonight, so you can leave it to your last pick. None of the sharper players I’m pitted against picked them any earlier.
  • There is no scarcity in any position today. There are 27 batters above a DFS Army grade of 80 today alone. Plus with Coors in action tonight with an already 11 o/u, you won’t need to worry about bats.
  • Hitting wise looking at our Domination Station model today. Matt Olsen sticks out like a sore thumb as the #2 highest graded hitter on the slate. He’s gone undrafted unless I take him. Solid matchup with a combined 7 day wOBA+ISO of.607.

  • Another undrafted bat I’m target is JT Realmuto. #5 in our model with a grade of 83.8, he’s not on anyone’s radar. He’s another bat I’m targeting in splits with Olsen.

  • I’m more than happy grabbing Arenado or Turner + one of these guys in all of my line ups today for the IF position. We’ll be covering outfield discrepancies in depth in Slack today before lock.

I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
