This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.
Quick Trends (20 game sample)
- You would think putting up 31 points yesterday would garner some recency bias and keep Trout at the #1 spot. Instead he bends a knee to Betts making his return to the heart of the Boston line up facing David Hess.
- The entire front half of the Red Sox line up was popular today garnering 100% ownership for Betts, Martinez, and Benintendi. Moreland was right behind them at 80% to boot.
- Rounding out your first round picks today are Trout, Goldschmidt, Judge, Benintendi,
- 100% Betts, Martinez, Benintendi, Trout, Goldschmidt, Judge, Ramierez, Nola, Mikolas, Freeman, Lindor, and Brantley. A whopping 80% of the player pool today was chalk. We’ll talk about this in the strategy section below.

Draft Projections & Rankings
The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy
- On days when Chalk is this heavy, you have two options: Lean into it and spread your distribution of winnings to roughly 34% (since you’re passing the same guys around) or make a bold decision to not be as heavy on the chalk. Here are some quick facts about tonight’s slate:
- there are 74 hitters with a DFS Army grade of 80 or greater. With only needing to ear mark 6 at each position for 3 mans, there are 68 OTHER hitters in great spots.
- 5 Infield, 5 outfield, and 2 pitchers were drafted 100% of the time. Conversely, there was only a variant of 1 player per position tonight and some of those guys were also drafted in the high 70%.
- You can’t ever be positive a team or offense is going to go ham. Is it likely BOS scores 5 runs tonight? Yes. Is it unlikely they score 0 to 1 tonight? No.
- 10 Offenses are predicted by Vegas to score 5 or more runs. That list up top doesn’t even contain one player from each of those offenses.
- There is no positional scarcity today. Pitching and hitting options are plentiful.
- We’ll talk about pivots from the massive chalk in Slack today right up to lock. There are some sneaky directions to go tonight where you could either sweep or get swept.
I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
