This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.
Quick Trends (20 game sample)
- #1 overall pick today was Martinez. No surprise today with the matchup he has going.
- Rounding out the top picks was Trout, Davis, Ohtani, Blackmon, and Judge
- 100%: Trout, Davis, Ohtani, Blackmon, Judge, McCullers, Springer, Olson, Dozier, Arenado, Springer, and Stanton. 80% of the people drafted were chalk. This is a little higher than normal which means there are a few different directions we can go tonight to differentiate ourselves.
- Oakland saw the highest clip rate for drafted team members at an average of 2.9 over 20 drafts. Min and BOS tied at 2.3 players over 20 drafts behind them.
Draft Projections & Rankings
The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy
- Just like I wasn’t a Harper truth-sayer last night, I’m off of Springer completely. He’s not trending in the right direction and has a combined 0.394 wOBA+ISO in the past 7 / 0.568 over the past 14. He clocks in at a 72.4 DFSA Grade as well with many options in better spots tonight.
- Pitching (besides Ohtani) is going last. I’m fine not having Ohtani on my team tonight with a plethora of pitching available.
- Outfield has the most scarcity again tonight, but there are enough solid options to put together a good team. We’ll be digging into that in slack up until lock.
I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
