If you have played MLB DFS in the past you probably know stacking is a near MUST if you want to give yourself a chance to take down a Large Field GPP. If you’re new to MLB DFS well, now you know, STACK to win GPPs!!! There really is no other way increase your upside (and your downside) more than stacking. With that in mind I’ll do my very best to point in the right direction each day with my favorite MLB Top Stacks on Fanduel and Draftkings.

Since I’ve been with the DFS Army I’ve be utilizing the Domination Station aka the “DS” to run my 150 lineups daily in NBA and now in MLB. I’m hoping you’ll find my Stack Picks useful each day and use them in combination with the the settings within the DS. With the like, love, adore, dislike, hate and enrage (along with Lock and Exclude) features you can completely customize your player pool so that its truly unique. If you want some more info on the Domination Station check Kevin’s Domination Station MLB Tutorial HERE.

Before we get started, lets talk about the Types of stacks we have in MLB. First and foremost we have to understand that no matter how perfect a matchup looks on paper MLB is a fail first sport, meaning, even the best batters will fail nearly 70% of the time. Mike Trout (lefty masher) vs John Dank (slow pitch lefty) is a perfect matchup for Trout, but he can (and will) go 0-4 in that matchup more times that the numbers “that day” would lead you to believe. Knowing this, we can’t go “all in” on any 1 stack or 1 value stack for the day. I suggest about 30% to 35% max for teams you want to stack each day. 30% across 150 lineups would give you 45 lineups maximum on that single team. If you want exposure to more teams, drop that number to 20% – 25%

Types of Stacks

4-4 – this gives you 4 players from 1 team and 4 players from another. This gives you the highest upside and high downside
(note this Season Fanduel added the SP option to this stack so you can have 4 bats and 1 SP, last year you could only have 4 total players from 1 team)

4-3-1 – this stack is my favorite because it gives me the ability to snag a superstar “one off” player.
Example, Mike Trout, Bryce Harper as one off bats with my Red Sox / Padres (4×3) stack

3-3-1-1 – Similar to 4-3-1 but this stack gives you 2 “one off” batters. I’m not a huge fan of this as I feel like only having 3 bats from 1 team lowers my upside overall

In my article I’m not going to specify which stack you should or should not use. I’ll may mention from time to time “I am playing all 4 of these guys” or something like that. However I recommend you dig into the MLB Research Staion every day and combine that info with the tools of the MLB Domination Station along with this articles and stack as you see fit.

One final note before I get into today’s top stacks. I wanna give a huge shoutout to DFS Army Member Canders0221 for his MASSIVE take down over the weekend. He is just the most recent of 100’s of DFS Army members to take down big wins in the past few months. Check out our Wall of Wins for some of the rest and make sure you get on board sooner rather than later today. Use promo code CEEGEE to Save 10% on your membership and lock in your price forever!

NOTE #1 stacks article is written early in the day so projected lineups are based on the lineup each team usually has vs the handedness of today’s opposing SP

NOTE #2 I will very rarely write up Stacks in Coors Field (Colorado) and stacks in Wrigley (Chicago) with the wind blowing OUT… Simply because it would be a waste of time for me to tell you what everyone else that day is already telling you… I will tell you this however, In Coors (generally) both teams are fully stackable every single night… And in Wrigley (Chicago) with the wind blowing OUT both teams are fully stackable

NOTE #3 if you see me reference numbers like this when talking about batters 400/200 that is in reference to their woba/iso ratings rather than typing out “woba” and “iso” for every single player I may use this format more often going forward

My Favorite Stacks Today (MAIN)

White Sox vs Rays Jake Odorizzi
Sanchez, Castillo, Davidson, Delmonico,

Total Cost $11,700
Order 1-4-5-6 (projected)
Total DFSA Grade 310.7

Jake Odorizzi
vs Left 308 woba 228 iso 50% fly ball rate 32% hard contact
vs Right 325 woba 222 iso 45% fly ball rate 40% hard contact

Odorizzi has 200+ iso to both lefties and righties so we’ve got 2 left handed batters and 2 right handed batters in our top ranked White Sox stack tonight. Jake Odorizzi throws 2 main pitches, his fastball 90-92 48% of the time and his Splitter 23% of the time.

White Sox vs Fastball 90-92 mph
Yolmer Sanchez 437/375 with 30% hard contact
Tim Anderson 496/377 with 37% hard contact
Jose Abreu 472/389 with 50% hard contact
Welington Castillo 400/283 with 50% hard contact

White Sox vs Splitter
Jose Abreu 400/353 with 42% hard contact
Matt Davidson 408/429 with 65% hard contact (small sample)

It looks like a majority of the White Sox lineup tonight does work against the pitches that Odorizzi likes to throw. I think they’re all in play and this game has Double Stack written all over it as we’ll get to the Twins bats a little later in the article.

Athletics @ Mariners Wade LeBlanc (L)
Semian, Pinder, Lowrie, Olson + Davis

Total Cost $13,300
Order 1-2-3-6 (projected)
Total DFSA Grade 285.6 (just under 300 target but these guys historically hit lefties well)

Wade LeBlanc
vs Left 353 woba 206 iso 23% fly ball rate 33% hard contact
vs Right 289 woba 167 iso 39% fly ball rate 34% hard contact

The numbers for LeBlanc are not terrible, so this stack is purely based on what we know about these Athletics hitters and that is, historically they deal with left handed pitchers pretty well. Unless of course your name is James Paxton who just struck out 15, or 16 Athletics last night (I lost count)). LeBlance throws Fastball under 88 mph 30% and a change even slower 78 mph 30% of the time. He also mixes is in a Slider 15% and Cutter 15% but we’re just going to look at the 2 pitches he throws the most.

Athletics vs Slow 88 mph Fastball
Marcus Semian 603/667 with 53% hard contact
Chad Pinder 520/583 with 40% hard contact
Jed Lowrie 458/417 with 57% hard contact
Khris Davis 344/261 with 28% hard contact – Davis likes “faster” fastballs but we know he mashes lefties

Athletics vs Slow Change up
Marcus Semian 338/261 with 31% hard contact
Chad Pinder 346/243 with 36% hard contact
Jed Lowrie 342/160 only 27% hard contact
Khris Davis 337/259 with 38% hard contact

The numbers for the Athletics hitters is nothing too staggering. They do serious damage against the slow fastball, but, I’m assuming the Mariners and Wade LeBlanc probably know this so I expect him to use his Change up, Slider and Cutter more tonight and simply try to spot his fastball. Not sure about a full stack here, like I said already, I’m bringing them up more so because we know what they can do against left handed pitchers historically.

Other Stacks (sneaky stack)

Rangers vs Red Sox David Price (L)
Choo, Gallo, Chirinos, Rua
Order 2-5-8-9

David Price is a shell of his former self and these guys crush Sinkers and Cutters, the 2 pitches Price likes to the throw the most

Angels vs Orioles Chris Tillman (chalk)
Kinsler, Trout, Pujols, Simmons
Order 1-2-4-6

Chalk stack of the night, not really even worth digging into very deeply.

Chris Tillman
vs Left 445 woba 234 iso 37% hard contact
vs Right 383 woba 265 iso 37% hard contact

If you can afford them, play them, they should destroy Chris Tillman tonight

My Favorite Value Stacks Today (MAIN)

Twins @ White Sox Reynaldo Lopez
Kepler, Rosario, Grossman, Morrison + Dozier

Total Cost $11,600
Order 3-5-6-7 (projected)
Total DFSA Grade 337 #1 Stack tonight

Reynoldo Lopez
vs Left 345 woba 214 iso 51% fly ball rate 32% hard contact
vs Right 270 woba 113 iso 44% fly ball rate 27% hard contact

Lopez really struggles vs left handed hitters so we should be able to find some Twins to target on tonight’s small 4 game slate. He throws 2 main pitches his Fastball 94-96 58% of the time and his change up 82-84 21% of the time. His change up gets knocked around pretty good, as he’s allowed a 439 woba 266 iso and 37% hard contact with that pitch.

Twins vs Fastball 94-96 mph
Brian Dozier 507/526 with 42% hard contact – Dozier loves “fast” fastballs and hits them hard when he sees them
No other Twin qualifies with 400/200 vs Fastballs thrown this hard, but Kepler, Escobar, Rossario and Grossman are still in play because they’ll all be batting Left Handed which Lopez struggles with

Twins vs Change up
Brian Dozier 395/342 with 38% hard contact – I left him off the 4 man stack because this is supposed to be a “value” stack and he’s pricey. Seeing this however makes me want to roster Dozier tonight as he handles both pitches Lopez throws the most very well.
Eddie Rossario 403/270 with 31% hard contact
Logan Morrison 350/311 with 35% hard contact – not quite 400/200 but still a good spot vs a Pitcher who struggles vs Lefties.

Get all the Twins lefties you can tonight and get some Brian Dozier in your lineups as well, I expect him to go deep tonight vs Lopez
