This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.
Quick Trends (20 game sample)
- What if I told you over 20 drafts the #1 and #2 pick were the same every time? Arenado -> Blackmon. It was like clockwork. Brantley, Ramierez, Story, and McCan rounded out the rest of the slots.
- Middle of the picks were extremely volatile today with players being grabbed from all spectrum. Pitchers, infield, outfield, it didn’t matter. Pitchers were taken 40% of the time in the second round
- 100%’ers: Arenado, Blackmon, Ramierez, Belt, Brantley, Story, McCutchen.
Draft Projections & Rankings

Here’s the default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy
- Pitching is a garbage fire today. There’s not much separation between the top projected guy and the forth. Easy call to let slide to last pick.
- Outfield has more scarcity than infield by a mile. It gives outfielders a boost in my personal projections for that reason. There’s at least 10 infielders you can mix and match today without ant regret.
- With some afternoon weather concerns, I’m avoiding NYM and ATL players. Everyone else seems to be as well today.
- There’s a guy severely projected incorrectly today that no one is seeing. We’ll be talking about him in our Slack today and what to do with him.
I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
