This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Quick Trends (20 game sample)

  • First round picks are usual suspects with a pitcher in the mix: Betts, DeGrom, Trout, Freeman were drafted in the first round with the highest frequency
  • Because some key players are tagged as infielders, outfield was a little more scarce and saw the most random assortment of players. There were 11 unique layers in 20 drafts, 7 of hem being in the outfield.
  • Pham was the only player drafted from the STL/PHI game since it has the weather risk tonight.

Draft Projections & Rankings

Here’s the default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy

  • Today’s a rule breaking kind of day. DeGrom is head and shoulders the top pick of pitchers tonight far above a third pitcher. Considering the lowest place he was taken was the 4th pick in 20 drafts, I recommend grabbing him first.
  • A lot of players went undrafted including our #1 rated player in our model: Trevor Story. He was an easy last round pick up for a guy with massive upside tonight.
  • Other players that hit the 0% draft status that shouldn’t have: Khris Davis, Gallo, Rizzo, Encarnacion, Dozier, and Stanton
  • Pivot of the day: Gallo. He gave you a donut last night, so recency bias has everyone off of him. Even though TEX is slumping lately, he’s still got a prop bet of +275 to go yard and has solid stats to go around. Fulmer isn’t exactly an Ace either. You can go way off course today with Story and Gallo which could lead to a clean sweep of all your contests.

I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
