The modus operandi of this column is to deliver compelling evidence through analytics, trends, and useful data as to why a pitcher, stack, or hitter is an ideal target to invest in. I prefer to present my opinions based on analytics and trends rather than tummy tingles and feelings.

Each statistic provided has been gathered on players over the last two weeks. Each player listed has played at least six or more games during that time frame and their team is playing in the main slate. If statistic is used that is different than the above filter it will be noted.
*Splits are a player’s statistics against the handedness of the pitcher he’s facing. I.E. a right-handed batter’s stats vs. a left-handed pitcher if he’s facing a lefty in his game*
*Parenthesis will include the number of times a player has shown up in the trending statistics in order of appearance*

How can we use this data to our advantage?
There are a couple of really nice takeaways I think could provide us with a significant edge in large field GPPs.
¹ The Giants have a very nice stack that could yield a very nice scoring ceiling at discount pricing on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Nick Hundley, Andrew McCutchen and Brandon Belt have all been tearing the cover off the ball. They’re moderately priced across the board on both premier sites. Hundley only plays when Buster Posey needs a rest or Hundley is riding hot so pay attention to final lineup confirmation. Belt also comes in as our highest rated batter using our Research Station (where I got all of these analytics and trends from) so he is someone to target with vigor.

² Joey Gallo is out there swinging a metal bat in a youth pitch league. He’s absolutely hammering the cover off the ball and has superb splits in his match-up. The Rangers also are tied with the highest current implied run total (IRT) at 4.8 runs. Michael Fulmer is one of those guys that can absolutely shut down a lineup so I don’t like the idea of stacking the Rangers today, which makes Gallo the ideal “one-off” hitter to throw in a lineup with a couple of stacked teams in the same construction. I’ll save the strategy talk for Slack.
³ The amount of hitters with insanely good wOBA splits and ISO splits on today’s main slate is astonishing. Because we have a medium sized slate with only one true pitching stud, I absolutely love the idea of grabbing a lot of exposure to the group of players in the first two columns that find themselves to have a top-10 split in both categories. They all make for excellent “one-off” options while stacking some of the teams with the higher IRT projections.

It’s a strategy I created to basically diversify your portfolio in a low-risk fashion while boosting your potential ROI by having a dart or two hit the top of the standings.
