Research Notes - Fanduel Advice for the Main Slate on Monday, August 21st

**Before we get started I just want to show you exactly what we have upcoming for the NFL season. Football is upon us and whether it’s season-long fantasy football or DFS, the staff here at DFS Army has you covered. If this link doesn’t make you so excited that you want to run through a brick wall then I don’t know what will. Here is what is in-store for the 2017 NFL season.

This article is going to mesh what my normal notebook of research would look like with the presentation in a more articulate demonstration. Trust me, you don’t want to lay your eyes on my notebook. It resembles my toddler’s “drawings” of me and her mother. This “research notebook” will also give you a look into my personal process as a full-time guaranteed prize pool (GPP) competitor. Try not to get lost in the minutia of the numbers and enjoy the deep data dive. By the end, you will have a nice insider peek at my player pool for the main slate. *All statistics referenced are over the past month vs opposite handedness of the pitcher or batter.

OAK@BAL

  • Tim Beckham has a .463 wOBA and .294 ISO and leads off
  • Manny Machado has a .383 wOBA and .265 ISO
  • Jonathan Schoop has a .384 wOBA and .228 ISO
  • Adam Jones has a .345 wOBA and .200 ISO
  • Trey Mancini has a .365 wOBA and .333 ISO
  • Welington Castillo has a .423 wOBA and .314 ISO
  • Stack them up in various ways for an MME approach. If using one or two lineups narrow it down to Beckham, Machado, Mancini, and Castillo.

LAD@PIT

  • I want nothing to do with hitters from this game. Both pitchers are GPP options. Alex Wood is my top cash game option as he has three straight quality starts.

ARI@NYM

  • Arizona is my second favorite stack of the day and very close to being my favorite (Baltimore is the top dog)
  • Projected starting lineup has a .325 wOBA and .201 ISO
  • David Peralta has a .347 wOBA and .241 ISO
  • Jake Lamb has a .381 wOBA and .234 ISO
  • Paul Goldschmidt has a .418 wOBA and .304 ISO
  • J.D. Martinez has a .394 wOBA and .393 ISO
  • I really like T. Walker for large field GPP’s but he has been ruined by righties as of late (.376 wOBA and .270 ISO)
  • Cespedes and Flores are the only Mets targets I like in a mini-stack

BOS@CLE

  • Eduardo Rodriguez has been hammered by lefties to the tune of a .398 wOBA and .261 ISO
  • Indians have plenty of viable targets, I really like them for stacking purposes in large field GPPs
  • Francisco Lindor has a .487 wOBA and .286 ISO
  • Jason Kipnis has a .301 wOBA and .143 ISO but is heating up
  • Jose Ramirez has a .369 wOBA and .207 ISO
  • Jay Bruce has a .489 wOBA and .545 ISO since being traded (against lefties)
  • Carlos Santana has a .353 wOBA and .269 ISO
  • Austin Jackson has a .416 wOBA and .200 ISO
  • Brandon Guyer has a .344 wOBA and .200 ISO
  • Stay far away from Rodriguez and stack up the Indians. I am focusing on Carlos Santana, Jay Bruce, and either Brandon Guyer or Austin Jackson if they are at the top of the order
  • The Red Sox lefties are in a great spot too as Mike Clevenger is really struggling against lefties
  • Andrew Benintendi has a .434 wOBA and .288 ISO
  • Rafael Devers has a .463 wOBA and .383 ISO
  • I love them as a two-man mini-stack

SEA@ATL

  • With a number of hitters I like in the previous game I really am only targeting select hitters here with the best matchups
  • Folty is struggling against both sides of the plate so the Mariners are solid to target
  • Robison Cano has a .407 wOBA and .179 ISO
  • Mike Zunino has a .345 wOBA and .348 ISO
  • Fade the Braves and take a look at Andrew Albers in large field GPPs

MIN@CHW

  • The Twins are in a great spot against Carson Fulmer who has struggled in Triple-A this season
  • Brian Dozier has a had a strong month and has a .213 ISO
  • Max Kepler has a .340 wOBA and .246 ISO and could be batting second
  • Eddie Rosario is likely batting cleanup and has a .442 wOBA and .396 ISO and is one of my favorite plays of the entire main slate
  • Jose Abreu is a decent one-off but the White Sox offense is not in play for me

TEX@LAA

  • Both pitchers are fantastic GPP plays. With a number of excellent plays and stacks to use it would be extremely sub-optimal to stack hitters in this game

MIL@SFG

  • With a number of great plays I don’t want to target hitters in this pitcher’s ballpark
  • If you feel the need go ahead and use the Brewers lefties against Stratton
  • Zach Davis is my top GPP pitcher on the Main Slate as he has a great park to pitch in and has held both righties and lefties to below a .242 wOBA and .067 ISO over the past month
