**Before we get started I just want to show you exactly what we have upcoming for the NFL season. Football is upon us and whether it’s season-long fantasy football or DFS, the staff here at DFS Army has you covered. If this link doesn’t make you so excited that you want to run through a brick wall then I don’t know what will. Here is what is in-store for the 2017 NFL season.
This article is going to mesh what my normal notebook of research would look like with the presentation in a more articulate demonstration. Trust me, you don’t want to lay your eyes on my notebook. It resembles my toddler’s “drawings” of me and her mother. This “research notebook” will also give you a look into my personal process as a full-time guaranteed prize pool (GPP) competitor. Try not to get lost in the minutia of the numbers and enjoy the deep data dive. By the end, you will have a nice insider peek at my player pool for the main slate. *All statistics referenced are over the past month vs opposite handedness of the pitcher or batter.

ATL@PHI
- Aaron Nola is a phenomenal GPP play as the Braves have an implied run total (IRT) of 3.9 runs
- He’ll carry much less ownership than Corey Kluber and Luis Severino
- I like Rhys Hoskins, Nick Williams, and Cesar Hernandez for large field GPPs
CLE@NYY
- This one is simple, both pitchers are elite cash game plays. I would lean Severino over Kluber just for the savings in salary
MIA@WAS
- Max Scherzer is the top cash game play on a loaded slate for pitching
- The Marlins have a 3.0 IRT
- I am fading the Nats bats as Jose Urena has looked good as of late
SEA@BAL
- Game stack alert*
- Tim Beckham has a .353 wOBA and .160 ISO
- Manny Machado has a .336 wOBA and .217 ISO
- Jonathan Schoop has a .388 wOBA and .289 ISO
- Adam Jones has a .315 wOBA and .179 ISO
- Marco Gonzalez struggles against righties with a .450 wOBA and .405 ISO against him
- Chris Tillman is allowing over a .416 wOBA to both sides of the plate with righties hitting for more power against him (.276 ISO) on the season
- Jean Segura has a .316 wOBA and .130 ISO
- Yonder Alonso is batting second and has a .305 wOBA and .122 ISO
- Robinson Cano has a .396 wOBA and .154 ISO
- Nelson Cruz has an elite .507 wOBA and .510 ISO
- I like Kyle Seager, Mitch Haniger, and Mike Zunino for large field GPPs as well
BOS@TOR
- Complete fade of this game as I can’t focus on any mini-stacks and don’t find using either starting pitcher necessary
PIT@CHC
- Mike Montgomery is a nice large field GPP option as he’s incredibly cheap and the Pirates have an IRT of 3.8 runs
- Ian Happ, Alex Avila, and Jason Heyward are a nice left-handed 5-7 stack for large field GPPs. Keep your exposure low to these semi-salary saving options
TAM@KCR
- Game stack alert* as both teams have an IRT over 5.0 runs
- Focus on the Rays right-handed bats as Kennedy has recently been struggling against them with a 15.2% strikeout rate and allowing over a .500 wOBA and .300 ISO
- Evan Longoria, Steven Souza and Wilson Ramos
- Focus on the Royals right-handed bats as Austin Pruitt is struggling mightily against them and has allowed a .381 wOBA and .279 ISO
- Whit Merrifield, Lorenzo Cain, Salvador Perez are viable targets. Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer are always good choices in a team stack
DET@COL
- Jordan Zimmerman is in serious trouble. He’s allowed seven runs in three straight starts. The Rockies have a ridiculous IRT of 7.2 runs.
- Charlie Blackmon, Gerardo Parra, and Nolan Arenado are my favorite targets
- D.J. LeMahieu, Mark Reynolds, and Trevor Story are my priced well and will likely find their way into my lineup with one of the above batters
- Antonio Senzatela does a great job of limiting damage when he starts so I will be fading the Tigers

OAK@LAA
- I like stacks and pitchers in other games more than this game. Complete fade for me.
SF@SD
- Jeff Samardzija and Jhoulys Chacin are decent GPP options for small field contests. They don’t have the upside to win a large field GPP but do provide salary relief for smaller contests and allow you to target the Rockies, Orioles, and other superb offenses
You can find me on Twitter @DFSnDONUTS where I post my daily articles. Best of luck tonight in your contests!
