Part the Cloud: A Deep Dive into Wide Receivers and Defensive Schemes for 2025 Week 4

Welcome to Week 4 of Part the Cloud — your weekly deep dive into defensive coverage schemes and the hidden gems at wide receiver. Each week, we uncover sneaky values — whether they’re low-salary DFS plays or high-upside leverage picks — to help you build winning lineups with confidence.

🎥 The Film Room: Week 3 Recap

Before we dive into this week’s targets, let’s revisit last week’s performances. Wins, losses, and near-misses all play a part in refining our process.

🔹 George Pickens

  • DraftKings: 3.6x | FanDuel: 2.5x
Pickens benefited from increased opportunity following Lamb’s injury, but also saw more defensive attention. Still, he’s shaping up as a WR1 for the next month. Don’t be surprised if he returns to this column again.

🔹 Alec Pierce

  • DraftKings: 2.5x | FanDuel: 1.6x
Pierce looked fantastic early — 4 receptions for 67 yards and a deep ball called back before exiting with an injury. He was on pace for a breakout game.

🔹 Troy Franklin

  • DraftKings: 0.7x | FanDuel: 0.35x
Caught 2 of 4 targets for 8 yards. Simply put: he wasn’t a factor.

🧩 11 Personnel: Week 4 WR Targets

As 3-WR sets are the league standard, we’re focusing on three wideouts who stand out in Week 4 due to their defensive matchups and projected roles.

🟣 Keenan AllenChargers

  • DraftKings: $5,300 | Projected Ownership: 8.35%

  • FanDuel: $6,500 | Projected Ownership: 6%

“Keenan Allen is a baller.”

That about sums it up. Regardless of matchup, Allen continues to produce. This week, he faces a Giants defense that leans heavily on Man and Cover 3 schemes, but it’s their 2-high looks where the big plays often come from — and Allen thrives there. His chemistry with Herbert is elite, and he’s in a strong spot again.

🟢 Dyami BrownJaguars

  • DraftKings: $4,100 | Projected Ownership: 0.34%

  • FanDuel: $4,900 | Projected Ownership: 0.52%

A true sleeper this week. The 49ers will likely show a mix of Cover 3, Cover 4, and Man, all of which align with Brown’s strengths. He’s been the top WR on his team against Cover 3 and Man, and second only to Travis Hunter vs. Cover 4. If Hunter gets more defensive reps, Brown could see increased opportunity — and he’s already led the team in targets once.

🔴 Adonai MitchellColts

  • DraftKings: $3,100 | Projected Ownership: 3.09%

  • FanDuel: $4,400 | Projected Ownership: 1.63%

With Alec Pierce ruled out, Mitchell is set to step up. The matchup against the Rams is juicy — their defense uses a heavy dose of Cover 3, which is susceptible to slants, hitches, and deep Go routes. Mitchell matches up against Emmanuel Forbes, who’s allowed a 145.8 passer rating. If Mitchell is confirmed to get the extra snaps in 11 personnel, he’s a full-go for me.

📝 In Summary

There are other wideouts I’ve got my eye on, but these three shine the brightest in Week 4. The edge comes from understanding how coverage schemes align with receiver skillsets, and that’s what we aim to do here each week.
