NHL Building Blocks – April 11
A couple more teams can clinch their playoff tickets tonight on this, the last Friday of the regular season. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – April 11
The Goalie: Andrei Vasilevskiy
Vas (37-20-4 / 2.17 / .924) has had a stellar season, and he should be popular tonight at home facing a Red Wings team that’s been eliminated from the playoffs and playing on the second half of a road back-to-back.
The Center: Joel Eriksson Ek
Four goals in his first game back from a lengthy injury stint; granted, it was against the Sharks and the Flames’ defense is much better, but he’s fresh and the Wild are looking to clinch a playoff spot.
The Wing: Nikita Kucherov
Already having his usual elite season, the news that Nathan MacKinnon will miss the rest of the regular season only bolsters his Hart and scoring title chances. Wings’ defense is bad and they’re basically done, so he should be able to do what he wants.
The Defenseman: Lane Hutson
A win clinches a playoff spot for the Canadiens, and he’s been a big reason why this season; he’s also the likely Calder winner.
The Value: Elmer Soderblom
With the Wings being done, they’ll want to give their younger players like him more ice time (and he’s had some good ice time already).
The Stack: TB (Kucherov-Point-Guentzel)
This will likely be the chalk stack, but I don’t mind eating it in this case as the upside from this group is as high as any in the league. Mix in Hagel and Cirelli as secondary pieces.
