DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel – March 8

NHL Building Blocks – March 8

We’ve got six games tonight on the first slate post-deadline, and a few of the new pieces will make their initial appearance with their new teams as we enter the home stretch.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – March 8
The Goalie
: Darcy Kuemper
Kuemper (18-8-7 / 2.36 / .912) leads a defense that has allowed the third fewest goals in the league, and tonight they are at home against a Blues offense that is not only on the second half of a road back-to-back but that also ranks in the bottom 10 in goals scored (they also beat these Kings in overtime last game).  Look for some revenge here.

The Center: Nick Suzuki
Decent matchup for Suzuki, who’s got four goals and seven helpers in his last five games.  There are higher-ceiling centers (MacKinnon and Matthews, for example) on the slate, but he’s got some sneaky upside and can save you a bit of salary.

The Wing: Mikko Rantanen
Fresh off the trade to the team he wanted and (mostly) the contract extension figure he was looking for, Rantanen (if he plays) gets an Oiler defense that isn’t that intimidating, and I think he gets off to a great start in his new home.

The Defenseman: Cale Makar
Two goals and four helpers last game (the first defenseman to do that since Paul Coffey), showing why he’s still the favorite for the Norris.  Great game environment tonight as well.

The Value: Frank Nazar
Plays all three situations; may see more time with Smith traded.

The Stack: DAL (Robertson-Rantanen-Jonhston-Hintz)
The game environment may not be quite as good as TOR-COL, but this will likely be a popular stack as not only are the Stars rolling, Rantanen should be in uniform, which ups their ceiling.
