NHL Building Blocks – March 7
Six games kick off the weekend right, including some obvious spots and maybe some places that will go overlooked. We also have the trade deadline this afternoon, so check in with us in Discord for all the latest. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 7
The Goalie: Adin Hill
Hill (23-10-4 / 2.50 / .906) host the Penguins who have thrown in the towel, trading Bunting the other day and most likely some other pieces today, and the Vegas defense is very good (sixth fewest goals allowed in the league).
The Center: Robert Thomas
Best matchup on the slate for him and the Blues; 11-game point streak (four goals and 11 helpers during).
The Wing: Alex Ovechkin
Great chance at getting down to single goals away from the record and at home against a bad defense.
The Defenseman: Quinn Hughes
About the only Canuck doing anything, leading the team in scoring (66 points in 60 games).
The Value: Elmer Soderblom
L1 with Larkin and Raymond.
The Stack: WSH (Ovechkin-Strome-Wilson)
The Wings are on the second half of a back-to-back and their defense is just not good; the Caps are fighting for the top spot in the East, and this line has been great all season (and they’ll continue to feed Ovie for the rest of the campaign).
