NHL Building Blocks – December 6
We’ve got six games tonight as we kick off the weekend. There are some obvious spots to attack, but are they good chalk or do we need to go somewhere else? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – December 6
The Goalie: Mark-Andre Fleury
The Flower continues to defy age (5-0-1 / 2.64 / .905), playing very well in a backup role for the team with the league’s best record. The Wild are on the road tonight, but they’re facing a bad Ducks team, one that has scored the fewest goals in the league (60 in 24 games).
The Center: Auston Matthews
Three goals and two assists in three games back from injury and looks as good as ever. Leafs are at home, where he typically plays better as well.
The Wing: Kirill Kaprizov
Kap has firmly moved into the top tier of superstar: he’s tied for the league lead in scoring (39 points) and is third in goals (16), and his team has the best record in the league. They also face a Ducks defense that does a decent job of stopping the puck, but they allow the third most shots per game in the league.
The Defenseman: Quinn Hughes
10 points in his last five games and ranks second among defensemen in scoring. Canucks have a great matchup tonight as well.
The Value: Kiefer Sherwood
Cheap and sees time in all three situations; good game environment tonight.
The Stack: MIN (Kaprizov-Boldy-Rossi)
This trio has been playing very well this season and is a big reason why the Wild have the most points in the league. These three have combined for 34 of Minnesota’s 80 goals this season and face a Ducks team giving up a ton of shots, so they should have ample chances tonight. Mix in Hartman and Johansson as solid secondary pieces.
