NHL Building Blocks – December 5
Nice nine-game slate tonight with some good offenses in play. Who’s in the best spot and who could go overlooked? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – December 5
The Goalie: Andrei Vasilevskiy
At home facing a below-average Sharks offense, Vas (10-8-1 / 2.40 / .907) doesn’t have the record he’d like, but he does still have one of the highest-upside offenses in front of him as well. San Jose can somewhat score (and they do shoot a good amount), so he’s got a nice floor/ceiling combo here.
The Center: Brayden Point
16 goals in just 19 games (including 10 in his last nine contests) and facing a horrid Sharks defense.
The Wing: Lucas Raymond
Seven goals in his last seven games (including five games in a row at one point) and facing a Senators team that’s average defensively. One of the only consistent offensive producers for Detroit and he’s nicely priced.
The Defenseman: Zach Werenski
Continue to play him as he’s playing out of his mind right now: 26 points in 24 games and averaging just under four shots per game (90 in 24 games) from the blue line. Oilers have a good offense and bad defense, so this game could shoot out.
The Value: Adam Gaudette
12 goals in 23 games and is cheap in a good matchup.
The Stack: OTT (Tkachuk-Stuetzle-Batherson)
Great matchup here against a Wings team allowing over three goals a game and the fifth most shots per contest. 32 of the Senators’ 75 goals have come from this trio (and Tkachuk has the second most shots on goal in the league).
