NHL Building Blocks – December 23
Last day of games before the Christmas break. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – December 23
The Goalie: Adin Hill
Vegas hosts the Ducks, the team with the worst offense in the league (79 goals in 32 games). Hill (14-5-2 / 2.69 / .901) has been his usual solid self as well, so I have no issue rolling with him in any contest.
The Center: Brayden Point
Six goals and 12 assists during his eight-game point streak; scored a goal yesterday in the first game of this home-and-home series, so let’s go right back to him.
The Wing: Kirill Kaprizov
Third in the league in goals (22) and fourth in points (49), and he’s facing a Blackhawks team that’s given up the seventh most goals on the sixth-most shots per game this season.
The Defenseman: Zach Werenski
Canadiens’ defense is not good and he is good in all facets (32 points in 34 games while leading the team with 117 shots); plays almost 27 minutes a night as well. Starting to make his way into the conversation for best defenseman in the league.
The Value: Teuro Teravainen
Goal and nine assists in his last five games.
The Stack: TB (Point-Kucherov-Guentzel)
They’re expensive, but they may have the highest upside on the slate; these two teams played yesterday in Tampa (with Florida winning 4-2) and now they’ve moved to the Panthers’ home ice, so the Bolts will want to even things up. 53 goals between these three; mix in Hagel (15 goals) and Cirelli (13 goals) as solid secondary pieces (and cheaper).
