NHL Building Blocks – November 8
A four-game Friday with another chance to see if Ovie can keep up his record-chasing pace. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – November 8
The Goalie: Filip Gustavsson
The Wild played last night, but Gus didn’t, and he gets a great matchup against a bad Ducks offense. He’s been great this season (6-2-1 / 2.33 / .917) as has the rest of the Minnesota team, and Anaheim averages barely over two goals per game on the sixth-fewest shots per contest in the league.
The Center: Dylan Larkin
Four goals and a helper for the Wings’ captain in his last five games; he leads the team in goals with nine and gets a good matchup against a Leafs team that’s average defensively.
The Wing: Alex Ovechkin
Six goals and five assists in his past five games and continues to be on pace to pass Gretzky’s mark. Ride the hot hand, especially against the Penguins who allow the third most shots in the league while giving up just under four goals a contest.
The Defenseman: Moritz Seider
Five points in his last five games and is seeing over 24 minutes a night; he’ll be needed in both ends against a tough Leafs offense even if Matthews is out.
The Value: Frederick Gaudreau
Good matchup for a L3/PP2 center who’s got a four-game point streak (two goals and four helpers).
The Stack: WSH (Ovechkin-Strome-Wilson-McMichael)
Washington is at home against Pittsburgh’s old and slow defense. Both Ovie (11 points) and Strome (10) have five-game point streaks, and the Caps’ players are decently priced tonight as well. Mix and match these four and sprinkle in Carlson and Protas.
