NHL Building Blocks – November 30
Nice-sized slate of 10 games tonight, and we’ve got a lot of teams on a back-to-back. What will that do for them and for their opponents? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – November 30
The Goalie: Joey Daccord
The Sharks and Kraken are playing the second half of a home-and-home back-to-back, and tonight’s matchup is in Seattle. Daccord (10-5-1 / 2.47 / .916) has been very good this season, and he’s been responsible for 10 of Seattle’s 11 wins thus far. San Jose’s offense is average at best, so he’s got a good shot to grab a victory in this one.
The Center: Auston Matthews
Matthews looks good to go tonight as he practiced yesterday. The Leafs have gone 7-2 in his absence, but they’ve relied too much on the power play, scoring just nine times at even strength while he’s been gone, so he should give them a much-needed boost to their offense. Additionally, Toronto is rested, whereas Tampa Bay played last night.
The Wing: Brady Tkachuk
We like production and volume, and Tkachuk brings both, having scored 11 goals in the Senators’ 22 games thus far (and adding 14 helpers) on the second most shots (88) in the league. Ottawa is rested and the Kings played last night.
The Defenseman: Roman Josi
Core play for me last night and I’m going right back to him here even though the Preds and their opponent tonight, the , both played last night. Two goals on four shots last night (also four blocks) and continues to have the best floor in the league (averaging right around six shots and blocks combined per game).
The Value: Kasperi Kapanen
Skating on L1 with McDavid against a bad Avalanche defense for dirt cheap.
The Stack: TOR (Matthews-Nylander-Knies)
With Matthews back and the lines balancing out (looks like Tavares-Marner will stay together), the Leafs should have some extra oomph in their step, and they’re facing a Bolts team that played last night. Mix and match the big four (and Knies can even be thrown in as he’s also returning from injury and is fresh).
