NHL Building Blocks – November 22
Two-gamer for a Friday, so not a lot of spots to choose from; there are some places we can leverage, though. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – November 22
The Goalie: Connor Hellebuyck
The chalk on the slate facing a bad and slow Pittsburgh team. He’s been fabulous this season (13-2-0 / 2.20 / .923) and the Penguins have not (fifth in the league in shots per game but averaging just 2.67 goals per). Solid spot even on the road.
The Center: Mark Scheifele
Five goals and an assist in his last five games and in a really nice spot tonight. Tied for the team lead in goals (12) and points (24).
The Wing: Kyle Connor
12 goals on 70 shots in just 19 games (also tied with Scheifele with 24 points), so the volume and ceiling are both there, and his upside is raised facing a Pittsburgh team that just doesn’t look good this season.
The Defenseman: Rasmus Dahlin
Good floor as he averages a block and a half and just under three shots per game to go along with his 14 points in 17 games; also on a seven-game point streak (four goals and six helpers).
The Value: Ryan McLeod
On L1 with Tuch and Peterka; also kills penalties.
The Stack: WPG (Ehlers-Perfetti-Namestnikov)
Trying to get different on a two-gamer leads me to the Jets’ second line as they’re in just as good of a spot as L1 but at considerably lower price. Ehlers is PP1, which gives you access to the other studs on this team; mix in either Pionk or Samberg as both are PP2 and PK2 as well.
