NHL Building Blocks – November 21
We’ve got a good-sized slate of 10 games tonight. There are a lot of good offenses, but which ones make more sense and which ones can we take a chance on? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – November 21
The Goalie: Sergei Bobrovsky
Even on the road, Bob (9-4-1 / 2.98 / .893) and the Panthers should be very popular tonight facing a bad Blackhawks team. Chicago has scored the fewest goals (44) in the league while shooting just 26 and a half times on average, and Florida is solid throughout (plus he has a good offense in front of him). Playable in all formats.
The Center: Connor McDavid
Will be pricy, but it makes sense: he’s got 11 points in his last five games and is now up to 24 points in 17 games after a relatively slow start. Positive matchup tonight against the Wild who can score as well, so this game could shoot out.
The Wing: Sam Reinhart
Scored last game and now has nine goals and eight assists during his 11-game point streak (and he’s now fourth in the league in scoring and tied for second in goals). Great matchup tonight as well against Chicago.
The Defenseman: Cale Makar
Highest ceiling of any defenseman in the league and is tied for seventh in scoring. Avs go up against Washington who are going to be without Ovie for a week or two.
The Value: Nicolas Roy
Continues to have a solid ceiling for cheap as long as he’s L1 with Eichel and PP1 with the rest. Good spot against Ottawa tonight as well.
The Stack: FLA (Reinhart-Barkov)
This duo is pricy, but well worth it as they not only get one of the best matchups on the slate, they both have lengthy point streaks (see above for Reinhart; Barkov has three goals and 14 helpers during his nine-game streak). Mix in Tkachuk and Verhaeghe for more correlative goodness.
