DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel - November 2

NHL Building Blocks – November 2

Another nicely-sized slate of seven games for this Saturday evening in November.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – November 2
The Goalie:
Kevin Lankinen
Lankinen has had a really nice start to his season (4-2-0 / 2.29 / .920), and he gets possibly the best matchup on the slate facing the Sharks; San Jose doesn’t shoot a ton (fewer than 28 shots per game), but they also don’t score a ton (just two and a half times per contest).  Don’t mind him in all formats.

The Center: Auston Matthews
Five goals through 11 games (also five assists) and leading the league with 51 shots, Matthews’s floor is always solid and he’s always worth some shares.  The Blues are eighth-worst in shots allowed per game and allow three and a half goals per contest, so he should be able to approach his normal volume without issue.

The Wing: Cole Caufield
Taking the next step to superstar status, Caufield is tied for the league lead in goals with 10 and has a goal in four straight games.  The Canadiens get a bad Penguins team tonight, so he should continue to have all the chances.

The Defenseman: Quinn Hughes
Last season’s Norris winner is not only averaging a point per game, he’s shooting nearly four times per contest along with blocking a shot per game.  His floor is solid and his ceiling is high, especially against a bad San Jose team.

The Value: Max Pacioretty
Decent upside as he slots onto L2 with Nylander and Tavares, and he’s cheap (and sees PP2 time as well).

The Stack: VAN (Miller-Boeser-Hughes)
The Canucks get the best matchup on the slate facing the Sharks.  This trio is L1/PP1-correlated (with Miller and Hughes also killing penalties) and have 11 goals and 15 assists between them.  Mix in Pettersson and Debrusk for secondary correlation.
