NHL Building Blocks – November 14

A ten-game Thursday to get us ready for the weekend!  Ovie continues his march toward Gretzky…the Jets continue their historic start…and many other points of interest.  Who do we like?  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – November 14
The Goalie
: Igor Shesterkin
At first glance, there might not be a ton of upside for Shesterkin (6-4-1 / 2.85 / .913) facing the Sharks, but the Rangers do allow the fourth most shots per game while allowing the second fewest total goals in the league, so even though he’s in the best matchup, he could put up a tournament-winning score while being cash-viable as well.

The Center: Aleksander Barkov
Two goals and 10 assists during his six-game point streak, and he plays all three situations, which will come in handy against a tough and elite New Jersey offense.

The Wing: Artemi Panarin
Can’t ignore the Breadman in the best matchup on the slate.  Panarin leads the team with 10 goals and 22 points, and he averages three and a half shots per game.

The Defenseman: Roman Josi
Always in play in all formats simply because of his floor (25 and a half minutes per game through 16 games with 11 assists, 64 shots on goal, and 28 blocks).  Preds are on the road against a desperate and high-upside Oilers offense.

The Value: Jonathan Lekkerimaki
Continues to be L1/PP1 in Boeser’s absence, so his ceiling is raised considerably.

The Stack: MIN (Kaprizov-Zucarello-Boldy)
The Canadiens allow four goals per game and rank in the bottom 10 in shots allowed per game, both of which give the Wild a great chance at an offensive explosion.  24 of Minnesota’s 53 goals have come from this trio; mix in and match Eriksson Ek and Rossi for secondary exposure.
