DFS NHL Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel - November 11

NHL Building Blocks – November 11

We’ve got a solid five-gamer tonight to kick off the week.  Some solid offenses and some solid goalies highlight tonight, but let’s talk about where we might be able to get different.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – November 11
The Goalie:
Jake Oettinger
Probably the safest option on the slate tonight even though the Stars are on the road; the Penguins’ offense shoots a lot (over 32 times per game) but doesn’t score all that much, averaging under three goals per contest, so Oettinger’s (6-3-0 / 2.60 / .910) floor and ceiling are both in play tonight.

The Center: Nathan Mackinnon
Had his season-opening 13-game point streak snapped two games ago, and he responded with a goal and three helpers last game (possibly starting another one?).  29 points in 15 games and facing a not-threatening Preds defense.

The Wing: Martin Necas
Seven goals and 13 assists during his nine-game point streak; going to keep writing him up as long as he keeps playing as well as he is.

The Defenseman: Roman Josi
Going with him over Makar just as his floor is a bit higher (though Makar’s ceiling is higher) and he’s slightly cheaper.  Road game for the Preds, but he does everything, including averaging four shots and a block per game in addition to his scoring ability.

The Value: Philip Danault (Jordan Martinook)
Goal and five assists in his last five games (with a point in each) and in a good matchup. / Four goals and an assist in his last three games; kills penalties, which may be needed against a good Vegas offense.

The Stack: NSH (Forsberg-Stamkos-Marchessault-Nyquist)
These four have combined for nine goals and six assists in their past five games and could possibly be finding some momentum after starting the season slowly, and it’s a nice spot to attack as the Avs have given up the second most goals in the league.  Mix in Josi and O’Reilly to get a nice blend of L1/L2/PP1.
